5 Events During ADE That Made Us Never Want to Leave

As quickly as Amsterdam Dance Event came and went, we’ve finally had a chance to take a breath and get a grasp on what went down over the span of six days in beautiful Amsterdam.

With 400,000 attendees from all over the world and 140 venues, this year’s ADE was its biggest yet and left us wanting more yet again. While seemingly impossible to get to everything we wanted to experience during the week of ADE, there was still a vast array of accomplishments. From business meetings to conferences and seminars, networking was put on display to the max at Del La Mar this year as the hub for ADE and its delegates. Amsterdam is a magical place and proves to be at the forefront of the electronic scene time and time again. Of course, there was plenty of techno and a little bit of bass. Here are the top events that made us want to stay in the electronic playground that is Amsterdam Dance Event and look forward to attending again for many years to come.

The Tale of Us curated a 24-hour party that was everything we needed and more. With two stages, food and the likes of Solomun leading the way, there was a lot to take in this year. If the afterlife is anything like this one then we’re just fine with passing onto the next realm.

Not once, not twice, but three times we ventured to this sanctuary of techno. With Boris Brejcha, Stephan Bodzin, Joris Voorn, Laurent Garnier and Joseph Capriati at the helm of the event during the course of the weekend, I was in utter amazement at the quality of production and quality of techno on display. These legendary techno artists are all at the top of their game and among the top in the world and to be able to witness all of them in one place was truly special.

    Into the Woods

With an unparalleled vibe and setting, Into the Woods was the closest thing to some of the festivals I am used to going to in California. Four stages encompassed this tiny area on the docks of Amsterdam at NDSM Warf and that was all that was necessary. By accomplishing more with less, Into the Woods featured house, techno, tech house, psytrance and some good ol’ disco. With something for everyone and plenty of food options to boot, the chilly Amsterdam evening was relatively unnoticed until the party was over due to the abundance of good vibes, good music and good people.

Right across the way from Into the Woods was the literal “Paradise” of DGTL. Jaime Jones’ Paradise brand took over the evening with the help of Maya Jane Coles, Dubfire, Detlef, Derick May and Mr. Jones himself. This was my first time catching any of these artists and to say the least, the wait was well worth it.

    Monstercat/bitbird/Confession Showcase

Melkweg was defiantly the place to be on Thursday night. Hosting all three label showcases on one night in one venue led to music lovers of all different musical tastes covering into one mass for a night of bass, future, G-house and grime. The masked Malaa brought the house down while What So Not, NOISIA and San Holo were all pleasant breaks from the techno.
