The overcast Saturday afternoon didn’t keep Brisbane DNB fans away and Sub Rosa’s open roof dance floor welcomed punters to fly their DNB flags loud and proud.
By mid afternoon not a single bum was seated. Soulful tones broke through Fortitude Valley’s Saturday afternoon quiet. Sub Rosa’s high rise neighbours even joined the party dancing from their high rise balcony to the delight of punters.
In a truly massive line up, support for the headliners came via epic sets from De La Haye b2b Kosha D, Operon b2b Speechless, TOMIX b2b Bustaflux, Mikmac b2b Aradale, DKK b2b Lazy Susan, Koya Dubz b2b Eggs & Sam and Canno b2b Selectket.
We asked one local DNB raver to tell us their highlight of the day.
“The clear winner for me would be Tomix b2b with BustaFlux.
“They’re consistently awesome separately – together they were going offff!
“Tomix put out his typical high-nrg performance style and got the whole dancefloor pumping.
“BustaFlux plays some top tunes, as he always does”.
The Sub Rosa venue was carefully selected to allow Ben Soundscape and Collette Warren (Sun Bass) to perform on a quality sound system and this set was the favourite among many with Collette’s voice being described as ‘next level’.
The afterparty kicked on at Junkyard’s home turf at the Rumpus Room At the afterparty we where treated to sets from Boom Boom Bean Selekta, Morthotech, Erther, Dave Wrath and Dr Dom and noone can deny that the Brisbane posse is wicked massive.
Behind the Junkyard Sessions name is Dylan House (Kosha D) and Kim De La Haye (De La Haye), Both are well known Brisbane DnB artists in their own right, with a passion for the local DnB scene and it’s sound.
With a passion for putting on gigs that are about the music and inviting up and coming DJ’s to play, this duo has been working together since 2012 and their formula continues to work.
Junkyard Sessions are planning a boat party in the near future and will host the Sun and Bass party in February 2020.
