You have had quite the busy year in 2020. Working with such labels as Audio Addict , Born On Road , and Jungle Cakes just to name a few. And now you hit the mighty Serial Killaz with “Jungle Is Changing”. How was it working with Serial Killaz crew during these covid times ?
Yeah. It’s been a productive year for sure and has been really nice to be able to hit a load of labels and smash some goals. Working with Serial Killaz has been an absolute pleasure. Tobie and Graham are really on point and have helped me get the EP to a stage that we we’re all happy with without compromising the initial ideas. It’s a fine balance that I feel some labels can lack, but I think is really important.
You have been collaborating with some amazing artist all year. How did you go about choosing the ones for this Serial Killaz release?
It all came about quite naturally to be honest. The track with Cheshire Cat and Fleck was something that we started a good few years ago. Though it wasn’t until this year that I completed it. We felt the time was right and everything else just fit into place as if it were meant to be. I was on the road with Gilly all last year touring with UB40. I’ve known him for a long time and we always shared a mural respect for each other. We talked a lot about catching a vibe in the studio and I this turned out to be the time.
When you are in the studio what is your go to piece of gear? Hardware , Software, or both?
I’m mostly software based, Im currently using Logic X, but do love my hardware too. My Moog played a big part on the EP actually and was used for the bass in the Jungle is Rising.
We’ve had a few smaller gigs this year and it’s just nice to get out there and feel the energy from the crowd again. I can’t wait to get back to festival season. Boomtown is usually the highlight, we’ve all played there loads over the years and always feels great to catch up with everyone from all parts of the world.
Have you picked up any new hobbies during the lockdowns?
Hardest thing for me was finding the balance. At 1st I was just studio studio studio, but I soon realised I needed to keep my mind and physical health up to be able to get the inspiration I craved. I love language and have been picking up on my Spanish, I’ve been reading quite a lot and have also just taken up contact juggling.
If you where a super hero what would be your super power?
I’d love to be able to fly!
