Da Hool, producer of the 1997 massive hit “Meet Her At The Love Parade”, has hit out on social media this week claiming that an artist called “Joel Corry” ripped off his track.

Da Hool (Frank Tomiczek) posted on Facebook this week stating Joel Corry had released a track called "The Parade" which used a sample of his track "Meet Her At The Love Parade" without his permission.  Da Hool posted that label CR2 Records had contacted him three times in regards to using a sample of his track and each time he denied the request telling the label "We unfortunately can't give you approval , because there will be another release soon, Sorry for not having better news". The label informed him a few weeks ago that Corry had released the song on his own still keeping the original sample.  Da Hool states that he and Warner Chappell have requested removal of this song from various social media and music sites, including YouTube, but the artist continues to re-upload the track to YouTube. When asked about it, Da Hool told us that “It's not the fact, that he has done it. it was just the way how this happened! We are planning to do a re-release by ourself and this is what i told the label and the artist when they asked for approval three times.”. Da Hool refers to the action as “An absolutely No-Go. Illegal, ignorant and disrespectful”.  He adds “It's an honor for me as an artist and producer if other people, young or old, are remixing or remaking my tunes, but do it in a cool and respectful way and don't steal music.”

Plagiarism is rife in the music industry, with a large number of popular producers using samples of other people’s tracks in their own. Ed Sheeran has famously been caught out on in on a number of occasions, with using tracks from the late Marvin Gaye in his track “Thinking Out Loud”, and Sheeran’s collaboration with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill on track “The Rest Of Our Live”, which rips off Jasmine Rae’s song “When I Found You”.  Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams has also been caught out, with a $5million lawsuit against them for using Marvin Gaye’s track “Got to Give It Up”. In fact, even recently, Marshmello is facing a lawsuit from fellow EDM producer Arty over similarities between Marshmello’s “Happier” and Arty’s remix of OneRepublic’s “I Lived”.  A google search on plagiarism in the music industry shows so many cases where a popular artist has ripped off another artist’s sample or song.  Our research even found that another track by Harry Ley, called “Love Parade”, released by the same label that released “The Parade”, Up-Tempo Records, also contains a sample that sounds very similar to the Da Hool hit from 1997.

When we reached out to Da Hool to find out more about what he plans in regards to the copyright infringement, he told us that “(his) legal department and Warner Chappell are just working on (the claim) but it seems that JC is understandable and he knows that he has done something wrong, so it should be settled”. Da Hool recognises that most labels know how to do business correctly, and does not believe it was in any way the fault of the label, CR2 Records.

At the time of writing, a representative for Joel Corry and CR2 Records had not responded to our requests for comment, and Up-Tempo Records could not be contacted, with their Facebook page and website being taken offline.  In fact, the Corry track has also since been removed from many of the mainstream music sites such as Beatport, Google Play, Soundcloud, and Apple Music.

If there is one huge bonus to come of this, we now know to keep an eye out in the near future for a re-release of Da Hool’s massive hit!  Watch this space people!

Listen to the tracks below to decide for yourself if you think Joel Corry and Harry Ley are ripping off Da Hool’s track.

      🌟Concept

The Town is a creative and colorful mock village to explore, co-create and interact with. It is full of spaces that parody our city lives, while also providing and exploring better alternatives for them.

At different times of the festival people dress sup and get silly role-playing different characters and happenings of their own choosing. There is no pressure and it isn't about acting, but about letting go of taking ourselves seriously and embracing the absurdness of life.

On the more serious side, the festival also explores how to live more sustainable lives. This melding of fun and community care is at the core ethos of the town.

This year's 🌟 Theme will be Transport. The Town will be boasting a new train transport system, quirky bikes, modified grandma scooters and more., It will also explore Sustainable Transport and the pace and awareness at which we move through life with. Please carpool to the event and feel free to explore the theme in your own way 🚗
      ________________

      🌟Sustainability

The Town is a family friendly event. It prides itself on self-care, land care, and community care, with a huge focus on connection instead of consumption. Each year we further explore how to be more sustainable, and encourage all to party in a way that is healthy and could literally keep being done forever. This is one of the most important things to keep our beautiful Town striving.

By the end of the year, Licola is planning to be running on 90 percent Sustainable energy!

This year we will be introducing a 'Safe Travel's program to create an even safer and more educated community.

Purple Disco Machine has unveiled the slick new visual for his hit single ‘Body Funk’.

Directed by Nicole Alexander, the innovative video for ‘Body Funk’ features a gradually growing assortment of purple dancers coming together for a tightly choreographed dance-off in a futuristic warehouse.

Following the release of the Carl Cox remix, also being released today is the remix from rising star and Sweat It Out label brother Dom Dolla - whose recent single ‘Take It’ has catapulted his success, hitting #1 on Beatport and topping the Shazam charts across Europe.

Since the release of ‘Body Funk’, the single has garnered over 12 million streams and has been supported by the likes of Black Madonna, Jamie Jones and Fatboy Slim. The single has spent a second week #1 on the BBC Radio 1 Dance Chart and is continuing to get multiple plays across the R1 dance music family including Danny Howard, Pete Tong, MistaJam and Annie Mac - who crowned the track her ‘Hottest Record In The World’.

With remixes under his belt for Calvin Harris, Fatboy Slim, Weiss and Shakedown, Dresden-born producer Purple Disco Machine has become one of the decade’s most notable producers. 2018 saw him achieve an impressive feat on Beatport where four of his productions each secured a top 3 position.

Having recently remixed Calvin Harris, Fatboy Slim, Weiss and Jax Jones, he has also been named as Beatport’s #2 artist of all time.

Yolanda Be Cool know how to hit us in the heartstrings. You’d think the delivery of the glorious ‘Dance and Chant’ to start the year would be enough for our little souls, but here they are to spoil us yet again, with the announce of an epic 6 track remix package for our beloved nu-disco delight. Maybe it’s all the love in the air as we write this mid February, but our boys really do treat us well. With the original sitting on top of the ARIA Club Chart for a solid 5 weeks and counting, we can say these ones are officially tried, tested and certified.

Always the life of the party, and ones to pull a crowd, Yolanda Be Cool have enlisted the help of their nearest and dearest to add their own unique flavours to the mix. First up, our German Queen Lookee, already getting spins across triple j with her remix, getting a bit deeper on the original, focusing on that four-on-the-floor disco beat. Head of Clarisse records, Mendo delivers a VIP and Redmix - transforming the tune into a late night house mix, adding his own eccentric twist with unique saxophone treatments. Lord of lords, DJ Glen, delivers a remix that is somehow the exact auditory version of the ‘Dance and Chant’ release artwork, almost as if from an intro of a sci-fi film, he brings in the bass for his super refined tech house vibes. Tommie Sunshine & SLATIN surpass their own reputation, delivering a remix that is instantly bright and sassy. Perfect for a summers day on Sydney harbour, upping that daytime energy in the breakdown. The acclaimed French nu-disco producer, Mark Lower, utilises sharp and bright beats before transitioning to one of the more laidback and cruisy remixes after the breakdown, whilst homegrown Generik’s mix instantly erupts with energy, transforming the tune into a cheeky mid set stunner.

Yolanda Be Cool have delivered the goods time and time again with multiple international successes over the years including the diamond selling hit ‘We No Speak Americano’, along with ‘Sugar Man’, ‘From Me To You’, and ‘Soul Makossa’. All of which has lead to #1s in over 20 countries, 3 Beatport #1s and a tonne of platinum records throughout Germany, UK and Australia. A duo that continue to work so hard, they will play gigs in Brazil one day, and then back in Sydney the very next. Showing no signs of slowing down, Yolanda Be Cool, are set to play a tonne of shows over the Australian summer before moving on to Asia, Europe, capping it all off back in America.

Since breaking out in 2015, Odd Mob has had a musical evolution like no other. The moniker of Brisbane producer Harry Hope, the project has grown and developed into one of the most respective electronic acts, not only amongst fans, but also amongst his peers. Announcing today the release of his long awaited debut album, Odd Mob releases the very first instalment with the genre bending single ‘All Of Your Heart’. Mesmerising in both charisma and production, the single is a testament to Harry’s creative vision, and his continued ability to create dynamic productions whilst forging his own path stylistically.

Meshing dreamy pop vocals of the talented Jordan Leser, together with a nuanced bassline, ‘All Of Your Heart’ is a clear standout from Harry’s previous works. Giving insight on how the track came together, Harry explains “‘All Of Your Heart’ started as quite a melancholic tune, but then I had the idea to simply pitch them up six semitones. What resulted was a burst of pop-euphoria. I instantly decided to change the chords and the basis of the tune was formed.”

Co-written by Alexander Burnett (the famed songwriter/producer known for collaborations with major artists including DJ Snake, Hayden James, Flight Facilities, Elderbrook and more), it comes as no surprise, that the lyrics and messaging behind the song are just as intoxicating as the production. Describing his own take on the lyrics, Harry further explains, “The part of the verse got stuck in my head  was "give me all your heart". I really think many people these days are quite reluctant to give somebody their everything. Social media gives us so many false options. Loving somebody with everything you have is the most rewarding experience you can have.”

Whilst it was the hit single ‘Is It A Banger?’ that catapulted Odd Mob into the mainstream and triple j’s Hottest 100, Harry has always produced a wide range of electronic music. With a string of original works including; ‘Down For Love’ which had huge triple j support, ‘Into You feat. Starley’ becoming a 2017 club anthem holding the #1 position on the ARIA club chart for seven straight weeks, and ‘Intrinsic’ which bookmarked a turning point in production for Odd Mob with support pouring in from all corners of the globe from the likes of Martin Garrix, David Guetta, Don Diablo and JAUZ to name a few. Never downplaying his club roots, Harry has continued to develop various singles, an EP, and an entire ‘Oddities’ brand to experiment with various elements of his highly skilled production. A shining example of his club work, was the release of the electro house thumper ‘Gassed Up’, quickly catching the attention of DJ Snake and Jauz, transforming the tune into a festival anthem the world over. And with further remixes for the likes of A-Trak, Motez, Starley, POOLCLVB,  and Lorde, it is clear that he is at the top of his game.

Taking on his first headline tour of Australia in 2018, Harry played a string of intimate venues across the country to explore and develop songs for his forthcoming debut album, with the tour aptly titled ‘Testing Grounds’. Having been recently signed to APA (alongside of roster of 50 Cent, Tyga, Azealia Banks) Odd Mob is ready to take his music global, with his first run of dates in North America to be announced later this year.

‘All Of Your Heart’ is out now on Tinted Records, in conjunction with Spinnin, Parlophone/FFRR and Kontor Records.
