Cube presents: FERRY CORSTEN's BLUEPRINT TOUR!
With special guest.... MARKUS SCHULZ!!!!
One of the biggest ever lineups to come across EI8HT's stage, this will be MASSIVE!!
Hailing from Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Ferry Corsten’s lustrous career is exemplified by a passion for music that began as a hobby and spiralled into a full-blown profession. Today, as it was in the beginning, Corsten’s skills lie in his ability to coax the maximum emotional impact from electronic dance music of all genres, not just trance, but also progressive-house and electro. He remains and has always been ahead-of-his time, making music that becomes a template for others to follow.
From the outset, Corsten has beena prolific music-maker. With seven full-length studio albums under his belt and multiple Gold records to his name with songs that include ‘Punk,’ ‘Out Of The Blue,’ ‘Rock Your Body Rock,’ and other world-class hits like ‘Made Of Love’ featuring Betsie Larkin, ‘Hyper Love’ Feat. Nat Dunn and ‘Radio Crash’, Ferry’s output has always been plentiful and diverse. None more so is this true then with collaboration and remix work that has seen Ferry line-up alongside star names from the world of pop, rock, electronic and hip hop in Justin Bieber, U2, Moby, Faithless, The Killers, William Orbit, Duran Duran and Public Enemy.
From his New World Punx project with fellow trance pioneer Markus Schulz to his FULL ON live show concept, whereby he melds different styles of dance music by playing back-to-back sets with his cherry-picked roster of DJ/producer friends and a state-of-the-art stage setup, through to his hotly anticipated new live show and tour concept ‘Ferry Corsten presents Gouryella’. Ferry has continued to push and excite the world with his live and DJ show experiences. A statement that has been felt everywhere from festivals in Tomorrowland, Creamfields, Dance Valley, EDC Las Vegas, clubs such as Amnesia, Space, Ministry of Sound, Avalon, and iconic arenas like Amsterdam’s Heineken Music Hall, Allphones Arena in Sydney and New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
Striving always for excellence, this is an artist who is never satisfied with all that he’s accomplished, instead always pushing for the next exciting idea. For Ferry Corsten, the possibilities are limitless.
Forged in the fires of Arizona’s seminal 90s rave scene, Schulz first went state, then with equal speed national and international. From the building blocks of progressive, trance & house, he crafted early anthems like ‘The New World’ and latter-day ones like ‘Destiny’. Caught between have been a half-dozen revered albums (most recently ‘Watch The World’), a convoy of club hits and thousands of transfixing performances, played out before untold millions. He’s helmed the scene-essential Coldharbour label for 11 years, chaired the Global DJ Broadcast radio show for 15 and remixed everyone from Moroder to Madonna.
His floor-bound adventures have met with equal acclaim. Through his effortless audience affinity, flawless mixing, instinctive tune selection and now famous, stylistically vast open-till-close sets, he has wowed crowds in every major city on Earth. Markus has scaled the upper reaches of the world’s DJ rankings and charts; is a two-time winner of DJ Times’ America’s Best DJ crown and has drawn acclaim from every electronic music portal & press outlet on the planet. A regular fixture at the world’s biggest & most famous clubs, arenas and festival stages, weekly, he lays down his inimitable musical vision. In Europe, he’s floored audiences at events like Transmission, Electronic Family, Nature One and Dance Valley. He’s creamed Creamfields; gridlocked Global Gatherings and hosted his own stage at Tomorrowland. Stateside, EDC, Ultra, Nocturnal and numerous others have similarly all felt Schulz pressure. His legendary open-till-close sets, at spots like Space, Miami, LA’s Avalon, Stereo, Montreal, Amnesia, Ibiza and his International Residency at Ministry Of Sound have become rites of passage for music lovers around the world.
His most recent album ‘Watch The World’ (his sixth) included the Beatport #1 hit ‘Destiny’ and ‘Facedown’, his boundary-breaking team-up with Romanian quartet Soundland. Both stylistically and artistically, the album was a significant departure for Schulz. With more of a radio edge, it saw Markus take a lead role in its song writing process for the first time. A commercial and critical hit, ‘WTW’ reached the #1 position on iTunes’ international dance chart. The UK’s DJ Mag described it as “ambitious”, “expeditionary”, and “content-wise, for someone from his ‘bloc’, without precedent”. Giving it their Album of the Month accolade, MIXMAG called it “a work of art”. Dancing Astronaut saluted ‘Watch The World’s “meaningful lyrics played out with live instruments”, “that captured his (Markus’) authenticity as an artist”. Hailing its “impressive vocalists”,YourEDM.comsummed it up simply as “a monumental release”.

We’re teaming up with some of our best buds, Bizarro, who are heading up north for a hoon this December with none other than Mount Liberation Unlimited & Brian Not Brian!
Mount Liberation Unlimited is the brainchild of Stockholm natives and life long friends Tom Lagerman and Niklas Janzon. With a friendship rooted in musical exploration since their teens the two have evolved together through classical training, bands and music schools crafting what is today their own take on house music. Born out of a desire to separate themselves from the musical context they had earlier found themselves in, and from the musical rules, norms and conventions the two had acquired over the years. MLU wants to explore the cross over landscape between human groove and electronic synchronization, finding meaningfulness in their own perception of dance music. The result first saw daylight with their highly acclaimed debut EP ”Astro Travelling Through Life” on Junk Yard Connections in 2014, including their track ”Clinton Space Funk” which was quickly picked up by the likes of Gerd Janson, creating an instant demand for more.
Performing live, the most important aspect for MLU is just that. Being live. With a hardware heavy setup they bridge the gap between electronic instruments and their own musicianship, always leaving room for improvisation to be able to feed off the crowd and create something unique for the moment.
Brian not Brian
Belfast-born, Brixton based Brian not Brian is one of the purest and most intense characters of the modern electronic scene. With over twenty years of research and dedication, corroborated by his work experiences in famous London record stores such as Phonica Records, MVE & Kristina he has become the fine and eclectic artist that he is today. Able to cross genre boundaries with ease, taste and sensitivity. Whether it be jazz or cosmic, boogie, Techno or house it doesn't really matter. Brian works for quality, not for cataloging. And Going Good, the label he has created with longtime partner Salik Z is the proof. In only a few years Going Good has gained attention and value worldwide through impactful releases from great artists such as Moon B, Cloudface, Aquarian Foundation, Anom Vitruv, Ewan Jansen, The Mystic Jungle Tribe, Nummer, Yoshinori Hayashi & more.

“Not so straightforward, is it?” observes Markus Schulz. Both generally and rhetorically, he’s passing comment on life. However, in the closing weeks of 2017 & opening months of 2018, he could as easily be talking about the ‘how’, ‘what’ & ‘why?’ of Dakota’s stage show and its December-released 18-track LP companion, The Nine Skies.
Dakota has had its spiritual side from the off. The first and second ‘Thoughts Become Things’ albums were the pathfinders for this new, and possibly most definitive of Dakota projects. These releases were measures deployed to see if electronic music’s citizenry were receptive to something deeper and more involved.
Word back from the ‘Thoughts’ generation was: “ready”.
The tipping point for The Nine Skies’ didn’t occur however until last year, and the aftermath of the attack on Florida’s Pulse nightclub. “The final spur in the side”, was how Markus saw it at the time. “All the shit that’s happened after that has really changed things, but somehow that all seemed to start with Pulse. It just devastated me. Shook me to my core. It woke me up to the idea that, in general, we’re not on the right path. I believe to get us back there, to turn things around, anyone who is able has to do their bit. The Nine Skies is me trying to do mine in really the only way I know how”.
In respect of ‘The Nine Skies’, Markus’ own awakening started predominantly through books. “I started reading, he says, like a lot!” “At home, in hotel lobbies, on flights, in the studio. I’ve always had a lingering interest in spirituality and the desire to make some sense of life. It’s something I share with people that are close to me. We like to chat about the nature of things like dharma, prajna, true-self – all that stuff. It is how – over time – the ‘Skies’ came into being.
Markus has always seen Dakota not as an alias but as a persona – an identity even. “Sometimes I’m wearing Dakota’s head; other times it’s Markus Schulz’s, he says. Through that division, I’ve found the artistic space to make darker, moodier, deeper music. More exploratory and experimental gear… if that’s where my current state of mind is taking me.
Atypically, the entire The Nine Skies project – concept, show, album, et al, was wrapped and complete before but a word of it was breathed. “This, expands Markus, gave me an opportunity I’d not had before. It gave me a chance to shake up my usual release pattern. So in keeping with the progressive spirit of The Nine Skies/steps, rather than coming with dozens of shows and an album’s worth of new material frontend, I brought it one stage and single at a time. I felt it would give the audiences more time to digest and absorb what is undeniably a broader concept”.
Markus considers that if there’s one thing enlightenment does take, it’s time. ”Rarely, if ever, in life does something happen overnight”, he says. The release of the album’s first four singles was designed to reflect one of the possible journey arcs from darkness to enlightenment. That started with early-in-the-album track, ‘Mota Mota’ and ended with its penultimate one, ‘Spirit of the Warrior’. “It arches from one of the most ominous darkly-minded, night-black numbers I’ve written to possibly Dakota’s most uplifting, emancipating moment ever”, says Markus.
The underlying theme of each of the 18 tracks on the album broadly falls into one of the Skies’ nine realms. “That, cautions Markus, is not something that’s going to be immediately apparent the first time you listen to it. Give it time though, and over subsequent spins I think, you’ll get an ever-greater feel for the transitional passage the album is taking. From Sky.One’s The Follower, transcending right the way over to the ninth Sky: Nirvana.”
