Hardware x Wavefield | Dave Clarke & Ben Sims [Cancelled!]
1 December @ 21:00 - 04:00 AEDT
It is with great disappointment that we must announce the cancellation of this event. As many of you are aware, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to escalate, and this has led to government mandates being put in place, including mandatory 14-day isolation of new arrivals from overseas. This unfortunately makes having Dave and Ben play untenable. We are as disappointed as you are but will be working hard to get them both out here again in the near future.
Furthermore, the government has strongly advised against large gatherings of people to help minimise the spread of the virus. We have a duty of care as promoters to consider the health and safety of both our artists and crowd, and feel that given the current circumstances, the safer option is to cancel the event.
All ticketholders are entitled to refunds via Ticketbooth – these will be processed automatically within the next 7 to 10 business days via the account/card you used to purchase your ticket.
We are sorry to let you down, but hope you understand the difficult situation we are faced with. We look forward to bringing you news about Ben and Dave’s return to Australia at a later date.
Hardware & Wavefield
Hardware Presents and Wavefield are proud to present the return of two legendary techno artists, Dave Clarke and Ben Sims, to Sydney for the first time in over five years for a special intimate show at Civic Underground on March 28th, 2020.
Dave Clarke has been at the top of the game for over two decades, carving out a fiercely individualistic path that has earned him a reputation as a no-nonsense purveyor of visceral, unapologetic music that doesn’t bow to trends or the nonsense of the industry, instead just letting his music do the talking. He’s a DJ with an anarchist streak a mile wide and punk in his soul. He has long embraced many sounds outside staunch club music, and this eclectic approach informs his attitude as a DJ. You’re just as likely to hear obscure new wave and EBM oddities in his sets are you are up front techno slammers from both new and established artists, gritty electro, and even classic acid house.
Ben Sims is one of techno’s most exciting talents – a DJ who has stayed true to the genre’s funk, groove and electronic fused origins whilst continuing to embrace and nurture its development over the past 25 odd years. He commands your attention – both visually and musically – with anything from 3 to 5 decks running near constantly and hands, faders, effects and EQs a blur as tunes overlap to create a dense and quickly evolving collage of sound. Whether playing to 50, 500 or 5000 this unbridled energy and commitment to the art of mixing never falters and shows why Sims is regarded as one of the true masters on the circuit, both a DJ’s DJ and a straight up party rocker in equal measures.
They’re supported by equally uncompromising local artists in the form of live electro duo Phax Machine, Sydney techno mainstay Andrew Wowk, and Wavefield residents olssu B2B DJason.
