BLESS - Frank Booker (NZ) / 18.08.17

And we're back! After what went down as one of our wildest parties at Disco BLESSferno. Bless returns this August with none other than New Zealand's own Frank Booker.

Clubs around the globe rejoiced when Booker first appeared on the scene in 2009 and since his debut release on UK record label, Untracked Recordings, the Auckland based DJ & Producer has become psonymous with supreme disco re-edits and dancefloor concious DJ sets, so much so that throughout the last eight years he has played alongside the likes of Moodymann, Francois K, Tiger & Woods, Bill Brewster, Dam Funk, Kon, DJ Day, Trus’me, Kid Sublime, Rich Medina, Max Graef and many more.

As well as his DJ and production output Booker also championed his discerning taste in music via a co-hosting spot on the acclaimed ‘Hit It & Quit It’ radio show. The show aired every monday night on George FM (Auckland, New Zealand) and featured such guests as J Rocc, Jazzy Jay, Nathan Haines and many more.

Expect an infectious danceloor laden with Disco, Boogie and House.

Kicking off the festivities will be A Love Supreme Sound System and the Restless Beat DJ's.

Venue:
The Foundry Brisbane
228 Wickham St
Fortitude Valley

Time: 9pm - 3am

    • From the DJ’s perspective; since Larry Levan’s early days at the Paradise Garage, the remix – or playing different versions of songs – was one of the first notable aspects of what we now know as DJ Culture. His ethic of refreshing successful dancefloor movers in the late seventies passed down generations of DJ has been long-established as almost a perfunctory task, almost a must-do to be undertaken by the disk jockey.

So, our 'Attic' brand as a whole, the music we push—and, indeed, Andrew and I as individual DJs—is often centred around music on the lower, slower, deeper, warm-up tip. That is a label we've always worn with pride.

    • Recently I got to go check out the official Outlook Festival Queensland launch party in Brisbane. Presented by Quality Street Byron Bay, the event concept paid tribute to one of Europe’s most exciting Drum and Bass festivals and is a celebration of sound system culture.
