Last week, Joel ‘Deadmau5’ Zimmerman stepped up for his final BBC Radio 1 residency slot, capping off a big year of surprise guests and techno flirtations.
Mau5 didn’t go out without a bang: his final show was crammed full of tracks — including a new one from mau5trap signee Rinzen — but he actually saved his best gift for after he called time.
Read More Hear the Australian track Deadmau5 just gave a special shout out to   The producer just shared a playlist containing every single track he played over the course of his 12-month residency — that’s a staggering 206 songs, which equals a playing time of well over 22 hours. Among the goodies are tracks from Pryda, Maceo Plex, Lane 8, Robert Oaks, Tycho…and so, so, many more.
Better yet, his label mau5trap has confirmed on Twitter that we’ll be getting a brand new Deadmau5 album next year, and they’ll also be launching a “podcast mix show type thing”. Basically, it’s gonna be yet another big year for the mau5.
Listen to his final BBC Radio 1 Residency below, and check out his massive playlist below that.

Tastemakers don’t come much bigger than Deadmau5, which makes a shout-out from Joel Zimmerman himself is a Pretty Big Deal.
So pop a bottle today for Sydney’s Made In Paris, who woke up to the news that dance music’s most hard to please man had included her track ‘Mass Movement’ in his official Spotify playlist. She’s in some very good company — there’s only 77 tracks on the playlist, and other artists given the Deadmau5 seal of approval include Shiba San, Gesaffelstein, Rezz, Matt Lange and Boards of Canada.
Local techno connoisseurs will know Made In Paris as the producer responsible for some of the most exciting techno around at the moment — she’s a regular on the decks at parties like Motorik, the head of her own label Upon Access and her Mass Movement EP is out now on German label Salomo Records.
Listen to ‘Mass Movement’ and the rest of Deadmau5’s Spotify playlist — titled ‘for lack of a better playlist’, naturally — below.

If you live in Sydney and count yourself a Deadmau5 fan, we’d advise cancelling any Thursday night plans and laying the groundwork to call in sick to work on Friday right about now.
Joel “Deadmau5” Zimmerman has locked in an intimate headline show at Sydney’s Metro Theatre for this Thursday, November 30. Joining him on support are two of our favourite locals — Human Movement and Made In Paris, the Sydney producer whose track ‘Mass Movement’ the mau5 gave a special shout-out to last week.
The headline show follows Deadmau5’s appearance at festivals Sensation and Creamfields over the weekend, where he shared the bill with the likes of Showtek, Oliver Heldens and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. The Mau5trap head was also due to play at Adelaide’s Flux Festival before it was cancelled last week.
Tickets to the Metro are on sale now, with first release prices starting at $88. Get in quick.

Teksupport, the underground event promoter behind Time Warp NYC, has just announced its first show for New York’s New Year’s Eve weekend.
Saturday, Dec. 30, deadmau5 will take over Teksupport’s Dept 52 Brooklyn warehouse under his TESTPILOT techno moniker. Said event will also serve as Zimmerman’s TESTPILOT New York debut, where he’ll play alongside Dennis Ferrer and Tensnake.
Deadmau5 began playing under his techno alias with Richie Hawtin back in 2014. And while it’s presently unclear as to what mau5 has planned for the moniker, the show next month and a previous jaunt in Toronto earlier in October should serve as some indication that he at least has its fruitful continuance in mind.
Tickets will go on sale on Nov. 21. Purchase them here.

Legendary producer Joel Zimmerman, known by his deadmau5 stage name, has started a series called “Mau5trap Mondays” on streaming site Twitch where fans can tune in to hear the producer go through submitted music — all while raising money for a good cause.
During the stream, users submitted their songs and donated money, which Zimmerman matched if the donation was more than $100. This proved to be hugely successful on Nov. 13, as the fans and Zimmerman raised $15,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ Extra Life program.
Zimmerman notes toward the end of the stream that the series will continue every Monday, giving fans a shot at the iconic artist listening to and critiquing their music, along with donating money to a good cause.

  • Our picks

    • Luigi Tozzi’s fathomless techno deep-dives and captivating biomorphic atmospherics have been a favorite of ours at Dub Monitor since the young Italian producer began regularly releasing in 2014. Tozzi is one of a surprising cohort of Italian producers who have distinguished themselves as an undeniable vanguard of ingenious experimentation in techno and commitment to its fusion of modernist and shamanistic impulses. Think of Lucy, the Dadub guys, Voices from the Lake, to name just a few. I was curious to know how Tozzi came to be doing what he’s doing, how he goes about making such weirdly organic techno, where he thinks Italian techno is going right now, and what his future plans might be.
