Following our launch event with Fouk in January — as well as a few other Attic guest appearances around the place — we can now announce our second

 event: this time, hosting Nachtbraker!

We'll be back at The Civic Underground for this on Friday, 5 May — and kicking off at nine o'clock.

Tickets are available via Resident Advisor, .

Line-up, as follows:

NACHTBRAKER

(Quartet Series, Dirt Crew, Heist)

Simon Caldwell

(Mad Racket / FBi Radio)

Andrew Fazzolari

Brendan Clay

About Nachtbraker:

After receiving widespread recognition for books such as 'How Does He Do It?' and 'Glorious Misunderstandings', Maurits Verwoerd decided to start a career as a music producer.

Though few doubted his skills as an artist, most of Maurits' neighbours thought a little differently about his compositions, causing him to start producing music in the underground dungeons of Amsterdam.

Coming out occasionally — but only at night — slowly made him well-known among friends and enemies as Nachtbraker: Dutch for "night hawk".

The signs of exposure to a wide range of genres are clearly audible in his music, ranging from ecstatic slow grooves to unconventional dub tracks. Critics often praise him for adopting a wide pallet of sounds with subtle, intricate percussion.

While his celebrated performances receive increasing recognition, it’s unquestionable that Nachtbraker will keep a lot of people comfortably awake for many years to come.

Nachtbraker has a wealth of strong releases on imprints such as Quartet Series — his own label — Dirt Crew Recordings, Heist Recordings and Hudd Traxx — to name just a few.

---

'Attic' is the brainchild of Sydney jocks, Brendan Clay and Andrew Fazzolari; devised as a medium to promote their love for low, slow grooves, thick basslines and loose, swinging drums.

Attic is tailored to those searching for an avenue for deep, soulful, disco-infused and melodically-inclined house music.

Fundamentally, its focus is the promotion of quality, hand-picked local talent, foremost; regularly showcasing selectors from around the globe who mirror its style and vision.

Music Genre: Deep,Disco,Funk,House Facebook URL: https://www.facebook.com/events/189660574960533/ We're very pleased to announce that we're back in action with our first Attic event for 2018.  We're once again ticking another one of our favourite artists and selectors off our wish list—this time, it's Laurence Guy; his first Australian tour and only Sydney show!
As per, we'll be jumping back into our favourite home away from home, The Civic Underground, and once again, we'll ask you to draw a very big circle around Saturday, 10 March.

      About Laurence Guy:
Laurence Guy has been making and playing music for a long time, however; it seems that now, he's really hit his stride.
Over the last couple of years, he has proven his worth with a string of hyped releases on Church, Rose Records and Cin Cin, to name just a few.
2017 saw the release of his debut album on home stable, Church, featuring appearances from Steve Spacek, Ishmael and Contours.  It saw Laurence explore rewarding musical diversions, while retaining the melodic tendencies that drew people to his music originally: a mixture of house, ambient, jazz and lo-fi electronica—it’s garnered praise from all over.
As a DJ, he's gone from strength to strength, taking his all-encompassing style and rampant musical enthusiasm around the globe, making his Boiler Room debut in 2016 and appearing on revered radio stations such as Rinse and Worldwide FM.

2017 was a positively memorable first full year of Attic action; the boys' enthusiasm and insatiable appetite for quality house music continue in full swing...

    • Another day, another report of dangerous pills. Allison of KnowYourStuffNZ has been busy telling all the kiwi boys and girls about the circulation of high dose ecstasy and we’re here to pass some of that info onto you!
New Zealand being our neighbours it’s somewhat safe to assume we’re getting some of the similar imports and the good people at The Spinoff have recently put out an article detailing some of the issues with what’s going around.
What we can tell you is to approach a few with increased caution. On that list: Green Guccis, Yellow Rolexes and Pink Porsches. The Porsches in particular have been found to have pharmaceutical agents, so that’s usually a big ol’ no go.
As always, we don’t condone it, but understand it happens. Look after yourselves and your friends!

    • One of Australia and New Zealand’s most loved techno event, returns for its third year, to announce another huge lineup.

PURE, presented and curated by: Carl Cox, Eric Powell of Bush Records and Richie McNeill of Hardware, will see

Paco Osuna (Spain), Nastia (Ukraine) and Fabio Neural (Italy) take PURE to the next stage in 2018.

After its first year in Ibiza, winning best event of the summer in September 2017, this year the Australian leg expands to include: Brisbane for the first time alongside regulars Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Auckland.  PURE 2018 will tour Australia and New Zealand over the ANZAC Day weekend in April.

    • Luigi Tozzi’s fathomless techno deep-dives and captivating biomorphic atmospherics have been a favorite of ours at Dub Monitor since the young Italian producer began regularly releasing in 2014. Tozzi is one of a surprising cohort of Italian producers who have distinguished themselves as an undeniable vanguard of ingenious experimentation in techno and commitment to its fusion of modernist and shamanistic impulses. Think of Lucy, the Dadub guys, Voices from the Lake, to name just a few. I was curious to know how Tozzi came to be doing what he’s doing, how he goes about making such weirdly organic techno, where he thinks Italian techno is going right now, and what his future plans might be.
