Earlier this year, Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff announced they would be making a rare appearance to perform at Blackpool’s Livewire Festival. At the August festival, the duo tried their hand at EDM with the premiere of a track called “Get Lit.”
“Get Lit,” produced by DJ Jazzy Jeff, shows the iconic duo trying to push their way into one of the world’s fastest-rising music cultures. With a party vibe about “getting lit” and a pounding big room house beat, the track is reminiscent of festivals five years ago. Smith dons an accent for the verses in an attempt to give the song a foreign vibe, but switches back to his recognizable rap voice for the chorus.
In the hours since its release, the track has been met with overall criticism, with descriptions varying from “atrocious” to “a nightmare” to a “mid-life crisis.” While 49-year-old Smith and 52-year-old DJ Jazzy Jeff are legendary in the music world, their efforts to connect with the EDM audience miss the mark with “Get Lit.”

Halifax’s Pineo & Loeb are a DJ duo that have been working their way up in the food-chain-like music industry. After a handful of official remixes and number one Hype Machine charted remixes, they have recently finished up their debut album titled Lifeblood and released it through Canada’s Westwood Recordings.
The album includes a heavy load of multi-genre EDM tracks, and the best part is that they all have vocals! Hip-hop, disco, tropical, and deep house elements combine elegantly on this generous offering. Rap and dance music are so popular right now and this DJ duo knew exactly that, utilizing the hype and applying it to their album for something special.
Follow Pineo & Loeb to stay up to date with their music!

W&W are all about epic collaborations lately, and we’re all about — well, listening to them.
The most recent came in the form of W&W x Vini Vici‘s “Chakra,” an instant classic that matches big room sounds with tripped out, underground vibes. The music video is an absolute must watch by the way, if you haven’t seen it yet.
Now, the duo has announced its plans to unleash another collaboration coming soon with none other than Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. It’s an ID fans have been anticipating for a while now, but it’s always exciting when a big song gets an official release.
Listen to a version of “Crowd Control” below and check back to hear the official version October 20.

Zedd‘s “Clarity” featuring Foxes just turned five, and to mark the occasion, the timeless song just went 3x platinum in the United States, according to the RIAA.
While “Clarity” achieved 3 million units as of September 29, 2017, two more of his singles hit additional platinum milestones. “Stay The Night” featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore and “Beautiful Now” featuring Jon Bellion also hit double platinum, and single platinum respectively.
Zedd has platinum on platinum on platinum records. This year he also achieved double platinum status along with Alessia Cara for their collaborative EDM/pop crossover track “Stay.”
