Cosmic Gate – Materia Chapter One & Two #WIN A COPY

Cosmic Gate - Materia-Chapter One & Two #WIN A COPYAs with all good stories, as one chapter closes, another opens. Such is the way in the already singles-rich chronicle of “Materia” – Cosmic Gate’s episodic seventh album project. Following the considerable success of January’s “impressive” “roots return” (DJ Mag) “made for the clubs” (MIXMAG) maiden Chapter, “Materia” enter its second, entrancing phase.

Through winter and spring, its producers, singers and songwriters have burnt the midnight studio oil bright to bring you nine incredible new ‘Materia’ creations. One glance at ‘Chapter. Two’s production team-ups is certain to put a smile on the lips of every serious trance lover. Ever pictured what a Cosmic Gate x Markus Schulz outing would sound like? Or imagined what would happen if CG met Super8 & Tab in the studio? Well here’s where your thoughts become things! After the ‘WYM’-born club smash ‘Sometimes They Come For More’, you’re also in line for ‘No Strings Attached’ – their return match with Arnej. Song-based collaborations naturally abound too, with new music backed by many a respected voice. Through ‘If Not Now’ and ‘Materia’s title track, JES makes two appearances. After their Chapter. One turns, Eric Lumiere and Alastor both return and following 2014’s ‘Sparks After The Sunset’, Sarah Lynn is back too, with ‘Folded Wings’.

Nic & Bossi have also built a beyond-deluxe, limited edition Collectors version of ‘Materia’. It includes the double CD, a 12” vinyl of ‘am2pm’ and ‘No Strings Attached’, a Cosmic Gate flag and ‘Materia’ poster, along with a set of white and black wristbands. It’s hard to believe that the impeccable “Shelter” anime was released a full year ago – it’s even harder to believe that the last “Shelter” live show was already six months ago, but that’s the world we live in.
The massive collaboration between Porter Robinson and Madeon garnered massive critical praise and boosted the fan engagement of both artists, considering people had been wanting a collaboration from them for what seems like ever.
The anime for “Shelter” came out two months after the release of the single – though at the time, it seemed like the time between the two was much longer. The project was made in collaboration with A-1 Pictures and Crunchyroll, and features the story of Rin, “a 17-year-old girl who lives her life inside of a futuristic simulation completely by herself in infinite, beautiful loneliness.”
Watch “Shelter” again below, as well as the special behind the scenes video from Crunchyroll released last October.

With just two weeks remaining in the countdown to Stranger Things season two, the soundtrack’s masterminds have added to the excitement with the release of an inaugural track off the forthcoming soundtrack, due out Oct. 20.
Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, who make up S U R V I V E, have released “Walkin’ in Hawkins” on Lakeshore Records. The short track features the simple, synth-infused feel fans have come to know and love from the show’s soundtrack. While the track has a decidedly more lighthearted feel than many of its predecessors, it no doubt leads into something more sinister.
Stranger Things season two is out on Netflix Oct. 27.

Steve Angello shares the second installment of his upcoming album, Almost Human, today, Act II – Inferno that features songs “Freedom” ft. Pusha T and “I Know.”
This new music moves away from his past work and goes into a much darker, artful direction inspired by Steve’s own “spiritual awakening,” according to press release. In returning to music, he chose to release the album in an unconventional way of three installments that are heavily conceptual and rooted in storytelling, and which mirror his live performances.
“Freedom” begins with the Pusha T chant, “America’s ours,” before dropping into a Gesaffelstein-like electro drop. This is completely juxtaposed with the anthemic and melodic “I Know,” bearing resemblances to some more cinematic pieces by Nero on their latest album.
The new music direction of Angello is exciting and enticing to say the least. Listen to “Freedom” and “I Know” below.
