  • Dashiki ft Boy Matthews - Forget You

There's nothing simple about Dashiki's colourful new effort "Forget You"

    5ad7351882f4e_2018-04-1822_05_13-MASK-DASHIKI-1.pdf-AdobeAcrobatProDC.png.bbe1fbf0570bfeae65f1c2549c5a7a02.png

Dashiki is an unusual artistic movement that mixes a blend European and African cultures with music, visuals and people. After the success of their first single, Forget You, Dashiki has released an equally vibrant visual accompaniment.

Dashiki is the anagram of the three members in the collective… David, Shif and Kimbo. Aptly, Dashiki also refers to a traditional type African dress. Staying true to their roots, this mixture of African and European cultures is at the core of this project.

Dashiki is a collective where singers, dancers, designers and video makers, of both European and African origins, collaborate with the DJ producer who masterminded the whole idea. Their energy has been well directed to create Forget You, in 2017, and now their equally exhilarating video.

Brought to life by the Dashiki movement, this video is an uplifting exploration that doesn’t shy away from a very relatable situation. Sewn together by three creative forces, the video is underpinned heavily by each of their skills, backgrounds and individual stories. This track has an eclectic and erratic slant, but in some way, has the sense of utter certainty that youth holds. Deleting his ex-girl in a video game like twist, no one can’t decide whether this is a good or bad move. Passionate and powerful, this loudly asks us whether forgetting is better than heartbreak? Either way, we can’t wait for more celebrations of life from the skilled musicians that have brought us Dashiki.

Ozclubbers Review of "I Need You" by Jroll, Voviii, and Wknd Warrior on Central Station Records
Review by Wormie, Lou Lou, and MJ from Duggystone Radio

      Transcript:
Wormie and Lulu: We're here to review I need you by Jroll, Vovii, and Wknd Warrior, coming out on Central Station Records tomorrow (Fri 23rd Feb) LuLu: I've been listening to it and god, its a great track Wormie: Yeah I thorougly enjoyed it MJ: I really loved it, the beat and everything, and i loved how the second drop wasn't the same as the first drop. I know its something that many many of my friends would totally vibe to W: Its starts off with the bass, thats what got me hooked M: I loved the melody as well, the only thing that would amp that up more would be a female voice, not all throughout the song, just every now and then, but its still.... i loved it L: Yeah, the intro and outtro, its puts the song in such a different perspective, you don't expect it to drop into that heavy ass bass M: Yeah but even the drop itself, i didn't expect that, i was expecting it to be a harder drop than that, but it was still brilliant the way it all just worked together W: I personally think its an easy song to freestyle to L: Definitely M: Yeah definitely W: I was busting away to it throughout the song. Its going to be a dope song L: Freestylers are going to love it! W: Its smooth and easy listening, thats the best part about it from the start to the finish. The only thing I can really fault about the whole song is the outtro goes a bit too long, but thats all L: Yeah but it does cut the track too M: The good thing about that is, you can bust out solo's to it or its good to just listen to also just how it is, its versatile like that and thats a great sign of a great track L: I can 100% hear this on the radio in the future W: I could see me dancing to it in a nightclub after a few beverages too (all laugh) W: JRoll, Vovii, and Wknd Warrior, you have outdone yourselves with this one L: I give this one a 10 out of 10 W: Yeah, it gets a 10 out of 10 from me too M: 10 out of 10 from me too

New Parisian imprint Lost On You is the first electronic record label and benefit program to donate all money raised from album sales.
The label is a platform for talent, where talent becomes a way to help alleviate some of the toughest problems faced around the world, in this case, the fight against malnutrition, hunger and sanitary problems in the poorest parts of Africa.
For it’s debut release, Several Definitions, steps in with a pearl of evocative on an expertly produced EP, “Sierra,” only fitting that such a refreshingly progressive label.
“Sierra” is available 15 January on Lost on You

16 December marks the date for a new edition of Shockerz. This new edition is all about Conflict Override, a mysterious theme which involves an even more mysterious enemy who tries to attack Project F.E.A.R, which is the name for all the performing artists and visitors. Because the event was sold-out 1,5 months (!) before the event took place, we went looking for 10 reasons why you shouldn’t miss this year’s edition.
      1. Free War Force album for every visitor
Yes, you’ve read that right. Every visitor of Shockerz 2017 will receive the new War Force hard-copy album for FREE, which will be released and handed out at the event. Good news for all their fans, because they have been waiting for the tracks to be released. Recently the act revealed their performance at Shockerz 2017 and also that every visitor would receive the album for free. A big gift and surely something to get people up on their feet and marching to Den Bosch (near Eindhoven) on December 16.
      ..
      2. Raw classics during the Origins showcase
Shockerz will also present a brand-new act. Origins, as the show is called, is 30 minutes of the best selection of raw hardstyle ‘classics’. Think of tracks like ‘B-Front & Frontliner – Magic’, ‘The R3bels – Pattern 2’ en ‘Chris One – Psycho’. Standing still is not an option and nostalgia is what it’s all about. The show will be the premiere of a new stand-alone event, also called Origins, which will take place on February 24. ..
      3. Sold out editions
The title is this part kind off says it all. Shockerz has sold out in the past two years. Last year all tickets were even sold out at 1,5 months before the event took place. On the popular website TicketSwap more than 1500 people were still looking for tickets on the day of the event. So consider yourself warned and make sure to grab your tickets in time. Tickets are available through the official website.
      Travel (bus) to Shockerz 2017:
      – Festimove.com (French)
      – Akkros.com (French)
      – Feierreisen.de (German)
      – Hardtours.de (German)
      4. Many b2b performances
Besides a big number of live-acts, there will also be a lot of surprising b2b performances at Shockerz 2017. A b2b is a collaboration on-stage, meaning that two or more artists will perform together on-stage. There is Radical Redemption vs Regain, E-Force vs Rebelion and Ncrypta vs Luminite. More b2b’s will soon be announced.
      ..
      5. Seven special live-acts
During Shockerz 2017 there will be seven live-acts. Several of them have been revealed through their own trailer, like Minus Militia and War Force. Besides that Act of Rage will bring a special Sabotage album showcase, D-Sturb and Sub Sonik will perform live and MYST will be showcasing an exclusive live-act for the first time ever. More information about that will be revealed in an interview with him soon. Last but not least, B-Front will deliver his magic with Beyond Reality. 6. New and bigger location
Shockerz has moved to a bigger location. With two previous sold out editions the organization felt it was time to step it up, so this year Shockerz will take place in Autotron in Den Bosch. Autotron is an enormous event location, which surely will crank up the capacity this year. In comparison, area 2 of Autotron is the same size as area 1 of Shockerz last year. People who have visited Shockerz in the past will know that this means big things are coming.
      ..
      7. D-Sturb is responsible for the anthem
The person responsible for this year’s Shockerz anthem is D-Sturb. This became clear after a mysterious live video on his Facebook page. The young artist is sky-rocketing at the moment and will bring a special live-act on December 16. 8. MYST live for the first time ever
Yes, for the first time ever MYST will deliver an exclusive live-act. He has been preparing for months and soon Hard News will present an interview with him, telling us more about what he has planned. MYST is crushing stages at the moment, with tracks like ‘Before You Go’, ‘Hear My Breath’ and ‘Never Look Back’ which have gotten tremendous support from both the fans and artists.
      9. Act of Rage ‘Sabotage’ album release
Besides the War Force album, Act of Rage will also release his album at Shockerz 2017. That means visitors can also be the first to grab his album, at Shockerz.
      10. Massive line-up
The line-up of Shockerz 2017 is filled with the biggest names and talented acts. To clarify, there will be artists from 13 different labels performing at Shockerz. Talking about diversity.
      THE FEARLESS
Minus Militia – War Force (including Free Album) – B-Front Beyond Reality – Radical Redemption – Frequencerz – Warface – Fear the Public Enemies – Shockerz presents Origins – E-Force – Crypsis – D-Sturb LIVE – Sub Sonik LIVE – Regain – Delete – Requiem – High Voltage – Rebelion – Act of Rage LIVE – Bass Chaserz – MYST LIVE – RVAGE – Artifact – Killshot – MC Nolz

Sharing a passion for soft porn, the owners of Saints & Sonnets decided to give a shallow stab towards releasing “half decent house music” and the results were far beyond their expectation. The label to this date counts a number of 12 releases and it features names like Roman Flugel, Detroit Swindle, Shenoda or Huxley. It seems that brushing off the dust of old vinyl and today’s chaos in electronic music offered Saints & Sonnets the authority it deserves especially with their 13th release from Artifact.
The fact of the matter is that Bristol is foremost peaking when it’s about astonishing self-taught underground talent in matter of originality, and the artist behind Saints & Sonnets 13th release, Artifact, proves us just right. Bristol born, Artifact, first got acclaimed back in 2012 when his EP on Local Action seemed to be limitless, with its rocky house texture and dubstep assortment. Foremost, the tracks that set Artifact apart, Freezedry, was given away for free as courtesy for Local Action’s newest signing. Influenced by old deep house, ruff techno and the touch of living in a dubstep environment left a distinctive mark on the artist as bigger label such as Purp & Soul, Rebirth or MadTech took an interest into his sound.
How Did You Change EP features two originals and a remix from the boss himself, Huxley. It’s Artifact’s first official solo EP in 18 months.
How Did You Change see’s Artifact as an artist that grew over these past couple of years. Downward string notes are meant to maintain the venomous cycle as the lyrics bitter Gates’s message. It confuses the anticipated turnout with the groove of the track propagating with each spoken lyric. Soothing on the dance floor, the track conveys mixed moods for each individual.
Even is floating on the same line as Artifact’s sound back in 2012 and it brings remembrance to the sound we were accustomed with. The vocal brings memories of the early soulful house, but the track develops a series of mixed signals. Pinpointing an exact mood, is more of a science as airy strings come and go and wrap onto the house beat.
Huxley’s remix of Even takes a modern approach to house. Its roll enters countless worlds that eventually extents to a deliberately methodical disorder that aids in the track’s advantage. Breathing spaces within the track show for relentless brain-feet harmonization as the track formulates and rearranges itself for a different chapter in its story.
When the right time comes, we’ll let you have a listen to the tracks.
