deadmau5 to produce rising vocalist BoMason’s entire album

    OzClubbers

Dance music’s big cheese is a man of his word.

While it’s no secret that Joel Zimmerman is a candid, unfiltered mastermind, earlier this year, deadmau5 happened upon aspiring vocalist  BoMason. Lo and behold, after gaining an immense appreciation for his work, the legendary talent had reached out to said aspiring producer in the hopes to help kickstart his career. While the style and genre aren’t one would necessarily expect from the dance music icon, deadmau5 was incredibly supportive of Bo Mason’s palpable talent, even going so far as to extend him the offer of a lifetime — that is, if he could fulfill a simple challenge.

    deadmau5

If Bo could attain one million plays — across all his songs — he would fly him out to mau5trap and help him co-produce an album.

It’s important to know though that at the time of the discovery, BoMason was near a mere 800 SoundCloud followers. His most-played track, “Evolve,” sat at 134,000 plays. Now, at the time of writing, it’s at 339,000.

Nearly a year later, BoMason has surpassed his one million mark and deadmau5 is keeping good on his word. In a recent Twitter conversation, the big cheese congratulated Bo on the achievement and it seems the album will be coming after all.

While the news of the record’s forthcoming production remains fresh and a release date is assumingly far off, with mau5’s production proclivity in mind and his recent work with Shotty Horroh considered, the new record will be top notch.

Sydney’s global dance export, Go Freek, have just produced their catchiest tune to date. ‘Love Is The Weapon’, steps in an exciting new direction for the electronic heavyweights as they blend their signature offensive bass lines and tech-house percussion with a truly addictive topline. After spending quite some time in the U.S. smashing stages at the likes of EDC and Nocturnal Wonderland and playing European boat parties with artists such Detlef and Latmun, they’ve finally managed to find some time between drinks to get in the studio and deliver this sure hit, out today on Sweat It Out.

"When you work on something long enough you become emotionally attached and your art becomes a part of you. In the case of ‘Love Is The Weapon’, it was in the works for over 8 months. It grew from an idea that was almost thrown away, and has now become our most unique and exciting record to date. I remember having a moment of hysterical laughter and tears when we wrapped up the final mixdown. My mum complained that after first listen she had an earworm for days to follow. We are so proud of this record." Go Freek.

And proud as punch they should be after the career successes these boys have achieved over the years. With multiple ARIA Club Chart Top 10s, including their record breaking #1 collaboration with Dom Dolla on ‘Define’ and #2 on ‘Call Out’ and ‘Put It Down’ in 2016 and 2017 respectively. It comes as no surprise then that Go Freek have been given the nod of approval from some of the biggest names in dance, including Claude VonStroke, Camelphat, A-Trak, Don Diablo, Anna Lunoe, Claptone and most recently support from arguably the most popular DJ of 2018, FISHER, on their previous single, ‘Time’.

With a 12 date national tour around the corner, there is no doubt ‘Love Is The Weapon’ will earworm it’s way into every aspect of your life. Be sure to send this one to your mum.

LSDREAM Unveils Debut Album ‘Voyager’ On Liquid Stranger’s Wakaan
“He makes a huge impact no matter what” — YOUREDM
“Can’t wait to see what comes from this new project” — RUN THE TRAP
LSDREAM is a concept born within the deepest realms of the experimental mind. A long time in the making, the LSDREAM project is the sonic brainchild of internationally commended music producer, Brillz. Stepping into an entirely new venture, the producer has delved far within his artistic conscious to implement a creative drive and inspiration that has been under cover for far too long. Now, it’s time for LSDREAM to take centre stage as he reveals his debut album Voyager, on Liquid Stranger’s WAKAAN imprint.
Enigmatic and mesmerising, the LSDREAM experience is truly a spiritual one. His creations hover on the murkiest edges of the electronic spectrum, yet maintain a genre fluidity that spills over in to the realms of trap, dubstep, glitch and far beyond. Pairing his music with an immersive visual experience, LSDREAM invites bass fans to dip in to territories entirely uncharted by the Brillz project alone. A new vision curated by the heart and soul.
LSDREAM showcases his multidimensional talent with Voyager. Tracks like Oblivian, Godspeed, As Above So Below and Psychadelix bend the very fabric of the bass music landscape, as Ten of Pentacles, Awake and Activate shapeshift and hop between genres as the LP refuses to be categorised. Darkly emotive and majestically crafted, Voyager shares an insight in to the mind of a producer who isn’t afraid to flip the boundaries of the norm on their head.

Spotify’s Discover Weekly playlist could soon account for user preference.
Discover Weekly relies on an algorithm to compile a list of songs that would likely appeal to the listener, given the Spotify user’s listening history. The playlist refreshes each Monday, routinely offering new recommendations for streamers.
The playlist’s weekly renewal is favorable for the Spotify users that find their Discover Weekly collection to be irreflective of their tastes, but if Spotify moves ahead with its latest trial feature, listeners will be able to have more input in the formation of their Discover Weekly playlist. Spotify is accordingly testing a like/dislike feature to be used in conjunction with Discover Weekly. The like/dislike function is comparable to that of Spotify’s Daily Mix, which allows users to up-vote or down-vote a track, effectively reshaping the algorithm used to create the mix via vote. To like a song, Spotify users need only to click the heart button representative of “like.” To dislike a track, users can click the blocked sign button, indicating that one does not like the tune.
The like/dislike button for the Discover Weekly playlist currently appears to be randomly distributed among Spotify accounts, as some patrons of the streaming service have reported that they do not in fact have the ability to like or dislike songs from the weekly compilation. Spotify has not announced when the feature will become uniformly applied across Spotify accounts.
