Industrial electronic act The Bloody Beetroots recently completed the U.S. run of their tour in New York City, and Dancing Astronaut was on hand to witness the mayhem.
From beginning to end, it was an energetic performance, with frontman Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo running, jumping, and dancing around the entire stage. It is perhaps this level of physicality that drives Rifos’s other venture: a series of regular fitness bootcamp sessions for fans and friends. It’s quite an ingenious way to engage the fans while also accomplishing a difficult workout.
The show at Warsaw in New York City was largely punctuated with tracks from the group’s newest album release, The Great Electronic Swindle, a direct reference to The Great Rock & Roll Swindle, a documentary focused on seminal punk band The Sex Pistols. Rifo says that this album, in his view, was meant to push the boundaries of what electronic music production can and should be in 2017 and beyond.
Not wanting to leave fans hanging, the night also Included the classics, with renditions of “Rocksteady” and “Warp 1.9” that drew some of the biggest mosh pits of the night. Dancing Astronaut can confirm that no one was harmed in the making of these mosh pits — at least on this stop.
The Bloody Beetroots ended the night bringing out the lead singer of LA-based duo Rituals of Mine, who have accompanied Rifo and company on a number of stops this year. It was an emphatic stamp on a high-octane night. Next up is a trip back home to Italy, while the group finishes up some performances in Europe through the end of the year and then resets for big things in 2018.

It’s not the first time, and it’s not the last time, but an artist’s set at a festival this past weekend was forced to stop temporarily as crew attempted to bring an attendee down after she climbed the scaffolding at one of the stages.
This weekend, the incident occurred during Alan Walker’s set at Escape: Psycho Circus, the annual Halloween event thrown by LA-based promoter Insomniac Events. During Walker’s set, captured in the video below, an attendee began to climb the scaffolding near the front of the stage. One of the crew members followed, attempting to grab her leg, but quickly thought better of his decision, fearing for her safety.
Walker cut the music and announced to the attendee that someone was coming to get her and to “please not climb any higher.” Ultimately, the woman in question ended up climbing down on her own, stumbling a couple times, which drew some gasps from the crowd. We’re not sure what happened to the woman after she was on the ground, but we can assume that she was escorted out of the festival.

Hello guest! Please register or sign in to view the hidden content. posted a very raw and honest thing on facebook yesterday, which just goes to show that even the big guys have off days. The original post is here:
      Quoted below:
"Here's something nobody talks about; how about when you DONT kill it. How about when you are what is actually wrong with the party. Your programming is lazy, your decisions are Ill-informed, you vacillate between confidence and cluelessness. Your records sound slow. You can't maintain a connection. The center cannot hold. You summon up arrogance to bolster your position. THEY obviously don't get it. Those "people" out there. That unknowing primitive mass doesn't understand the levels: that I'm a tortured post-trance, deep-funk acid-tinged anti-techouse futurist pop-laced groove martyr and that even when my effort is minimal and my energy is anemic and my playlists are best compared to outsider art and my grasp of the situation is utterly compromised by my self-absorption---- they should still bow down to my REPUTATION and go crazy and scream and clap.
But no. There are nights when they know something you don't. And just like that, for a few hours, the magic is gone. And that's ok- makes it all the more magical when it reappears in another city, on another night.
So yeah, sorry Rome. I love you but I just didn't kill it tonight.
      Love t"
