For episode 94 of the mixtape series, we invited Sydney’s Adi Toohey – the DJ x teacher x weekly host on FBi radio’s Saturday Sunset slot. Adi also supported our recent tour in Ozz at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory so we thought it was a good fit for this week’s podcast! As usual, we asked her what she’s been up to recently…

For the past few months I’ve been living the double life of a DJ and high school teacher. It doesn’t leave much time for chilling out, but the kids and gigs are both very rewarding in their own ways.

The mix was recorded in my living room in Redfern on 2 x Technics, 2 x CDJs and my beautiful handmade Lucia mixer from Condesa Electronics.

I tried not to get too serious with it, which is why there’s a bit of hip house and UKG in there. It’s a pretty accurate representation of the music I’ve been playing in the club lately, including the warm up set I played for you guys in Sydney earlier this month. Keep an ear out for Aussie producer EDEN777’s refresh of the Peech Boys coming in around the 7 min mark.

    Up next…

In the near future I’ll be playing around Sydney and continuing to organise Rimbombo parties with the Ken Oath Records boys, our next one is with Anton Klint on April 6. I’m headed to Japan for a dig in June and hopefully off on another Euro jaunt if all the pieces fall into place!
