What got you into the scene/dj’ing/producing?
I really fell in love with the house/deep house sound when I first started hearing it out in clubs around 2012 and just began clubbing regularly since that time. I remember purchasing a dj controller online and playing around with it in my bedroom several years ago now. Ever sicne that time my interest in DJing began. I eventually downloaded Ableton and did a little bit of producing at home but nothing too serious. Things really began to take form when I entered the YOURSHOT international DJ competition in 2017 and placed as runner up on my stage. Shortly after the competition I had my first club set at one of the biggest clubs in Brisbane “The Met” and supported Bag Raiders amongst other international artists.

    Who has influenced you musically?
After attending the infamous nightclub Revolver in Melbourne it really influenced and changed the direction of my sound. I have had a massive influence from many Melbourne DJ’s including Brian Fantana, Boogs, Spacey Space and Jordan Brando to name a few.

What are you currently working on?
Was very happy to put out my debut single “I Gotta Know” last month which had a fantastic response. I am currently working on several projects which will be seeing the light of day very soon.

What can we expect in the future from Lifestream?
Strive to provide listeners with the best experience possible by creating memorable sets, tunes and moments.

Who have you enjoyed working with/hated the most?
I have had the pleasure with working with the guys at Frisson Records/Eden. They put on absolutely fantastic events and I have been able to play at their last 2 label parties in Brisbane which have both blown away my expectations.

    20813172_10155879821104305_1172378065_o.jpg

    What’s your day job?
I work on the clinical team at headspace (National Youth Mental Health Foundation), primarily doing assessments, screening and case management. I’m also doing some Postgraduate studies which keeps me busy.

What do you listen to in your downtime?
I listen to such a variety of music in my spare time; a lot of metal, house, triple J amongst others.

What do you think of the Brisbane scene?
I think the Brisbane House and Techno music scene has gone from strength to strength over the past 2 years. Venues like Capulet and events like Syndrome, Eden, Dragonfruit have all blown up in popularity over the past several months which has really shown the appetite for more underground house and techno sounds in the Brisbane music scene and how popular it is becoming. Very excited for the future of the Brisbane house and techno music scene.

Since breaking out in 2015, Odd Mob has had a musical evolution like no other. The moniker of Brisbane producer Harry Hope, the project has grown and developed into one of the most respective electronic acts, not only amongst fans, but also amongst his peers. Announcing today the release of his long awaited debut album, Odd Mob releases the very first instalment with the genre bending single ‘All Of Your Heart’. Mesmerising in both charisma and production, the single is a testament to Harry’s creative vision, and his continued ability to create dynamic productions whilst forging his own path stylistically.

Meshing dreamy pop vocals of the talented Jordan Leser, together with a nuanced bassline, ‘All Of Your Heart’ is a clear standout from Harry’s previous works. Giving insight on how the track came together, Harry explains “‘All Of Your Heart’ started as quite a melancholic tune, but then I had the idea to simply pitch them up six semitones. What resulted was a burst of pop-euphoria. I instantly decided to change the chords and the basis of the tune was formed.”

Co-written by Alexander Burnett (the famed songwriter/producer known for collaborations with major artists including DJ Snake, Hayden James, Flight Facilities, Elderbrook and more), it comes as no surprise, that the lyrics and messaging behind the song are just as intoxicating as the production. Describing his own take on the lyrics, Harry further explains, “The part of the verse got stuck in my head  was "give me all your heart". I really think many people these days are quite reluctant to give somebody their everything. Social media gives us so many false options. Loving somebody with everything you have is the most rewarding experience you can have.”

Whilst it was the hit single ‘Is It A Banger?’ that catapulted Odd Mob into the mainstream and triple j’s Hottest 100, Harry has always produced a wide range of electronic music. With a string of original works including; ‘Down For Love’ which had huge triple j support, ‘Into You feat. Starley’ becoming a 2017 club anthem holding the #1 position on the ARIA club chart for seven straight weeks, and ‘Intrinsic’ which bookmarked a turning point in production for Odd Mob with support pouring in from all corners of the globe from the likes of Martin Garrix, David Guetta, Don Diablo and JAUZ to name a few. Never downplaying his club roots, Harry has continued to develop various singles, an EP, and an entire ‘Oddities’ brand to experiment with various elements of his highly skilled production. A shining example of his club work, was the release of the electro house thumper ‘Gassed Up’, quickly catching the attention of DJ Snake and Jauz, transforming the tune into a festival anthem the world over. And with further remixes for the likes of A-Trak, Motez, Starley, POOLCLVB,  and Lorde, it is clear that he is at the top of his game.

Taking on his first headline tour of Australia in 2018, Harry played a string of intimate venues across the country to explore and develop songs for his forthcoming debut album, with the tour aptly titled ‘Testing Grounds’. Having been recently signed to APA (alongside of roster of 50 Cent, Tyga, Azealia Banks) Odd Mob is ready to take his music global, with his first run of dates in North America to be announced later this year.

‘All Of Your Heart’ is out now on Tinted Records, in conjunction with Spinnin, Parlophone/FFRR and Kontor Records.

One of Australia’s most loved techno events: PURE, returns for its fourth year in 2019, to announce its biggest line-up to date! PURE, presented and curated by Carl Cox, Eric Powell of Bush Records and Richie McNeill of Hardware, will see Carl Cox (Intec, Australia), Marco Carola (Music On, Italy), Joseph Capriati (Redimension, Italy), Enrico Sangiuliano (Drumcode, Italy) and Eric Powell (Bush Records, Australia) take PURE to new heights in 2019.

After its first year in Ibiza winning ‘Best Event’ of the summer in September 2017, this year the Australian leg expands to include Adelaide fans for the first time alongside regulars: Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane.  PURE 2019 will tour Australia over the Easter weekends in April 2019 and Adelaide will also be getting in on the action of Australia’s largest techno event! Adelaide ravers get ready!

Celebrating techno and house music, PURE has quickly established itself as a ‘must attend’ event for dance music fans, thanks to its reputation as an event where the audience can make a special connection with the DJs.

In April of 2016, Carl Cox launched the first instalment of his PURE event in Australia.  Taking place in Melbourne and Sydney, the event showcased players from the global Techno and House movements.

Marco Carola from Italy has enjoyed being a global techno ambassador, instrumental in the development of the electronic scene in the early 90’s.  Over twenty years later and Marco is still one of the most respected artists amongst the techno faithful, widely regarded as one of the key factors in driving the genre towards worldwide recognition within electronic music.  Joseph Capriati from Italy needs no introduction.  Now over a decade into his career as a globally touring DJ, there’s hardly an accolade he hasn’t achieved.  He is deservedly one of techno’s most in-demand headliners and continues to better himself as an artist.  Capriati’s brand of slick and emotive techno, delivered with precision, flair and infectious energy, has become a staple highlight of the global club and festival circuit.  Enrico Sangiuliano is a name you will have noted if you have been anywhere in the electronic music scene over the last few years.  International recognition came in 2015 with his remix of DJ Boris’s ‘Can You Hear Me’ on Alleanza, claiming the title as Beatport’s ‘highest selling techno track’ and being known for his driving techno, reminiscent of his peers Joseph Capriati and Marco Carola.

Join the crew for a night of Pure techno, delivered with incredible sound in an old fashioned no nonsense, no fluff rave atmosphere.
      Pure 2019 Lineup Line-up:

      Joseph Capriati (Redimension, Italy)
      Enrico Sangiuliano (Drumcode, Italy)

In a most welcome manifestation of the gradual societal and industry change regarding equality, this morning ARIA released the weekly club chart, topped by Sydney producer Beth Yen; the first solo female artist to achieve #1 since 2012. Also making her the fourth solo female artist to achieve this in ARIA chart history, following on from Helena with ‘Girl From The Sky’ - topping the chart for two consecutive weeks, and two other Australian females, Zoe Badwi with ‘Release Me’, and Sarah McCleod with ‘He Doesn’t Love You'.

Not only competing with local producers for the top position, Beth Yen knocked an international artist off the top spot - arguably the most prolific producer of the last few years, Scottish superstar Calvin Harris with his hit single ‘Giant feat. Rag'n'Bone Man’. Only a few weeks out from the original release, Beth Yen’s single ‘Ocean’ debuted at #25, jumping up the chart with a stellar remix pack from Friendless, Buried King, Marcus Knight, Scott Diaz, and Ozclubbers' own @Adam Madd, reaching #1 today, and in turn making the history books.

In one of the most serendipitous of occasions, the single was released by Hot Sunday Records just four weeks ago, on International Women’s Day. A shining example of the renowned Sydney’s DJ catalogue, Beth has taken inspiration from her years spent living and working as a DJ in Ibiza. For the release of ‘Ocean’, collaborating with Australian lyricist The Baroness, a regular vocalist of live shows with Peking Duk, and previously Flight Facilities. The song itself is about the ups and downs and life, and how people can draw you in and out much like the ocean. It is a rare find for dance music to be written with so much meaning and purpose, which has evidently resonated with her peers all across the country.

In what is hopefully a sign of the changing times, Beth shared a message of encouragement to her peers, “This is not just a win for me but a win for LGBTIQ+ women and men in the dance music industry. I hope that this inspires anyone, especially women contemplating getting involved in electronic dance music to get out there and find a way just to do it. The music industry is listening and ready for you all.”

Having grown up in the UK, Beth Yen cut her teeth rubbing shoulders with some of the world’s most influential DJs, from the likes of Masters at Work, Dennis Ferrer and Eric Prydz. From the humble underground clubs,  and later progressing to big room shows for Pacha Ibiza, London’s Egg, Sunset Music Festival alongside Avicii, and Sydney’s most prestigious Mardi Gras festival. Always with a finger on the pulse, Beth has produced originals across facets of house, funky, tech and nu-disco, with a genuine passion that is guaranteed to bring her more success stories such as this in the years to come.
