      LABEL: BOO
      RELEASE DATE: 18 MARCH, 2018
      In Brief:
It’s common knowledge that Carl and Eric have Soul, Funk, Jazz, Reggae and Disco running through their veins, it is in their DNA.  This is the music that influenced them growing up.  Carl as an eight year old playing records at his Father’s parties, Eric as a twelve year old playing records for “reggae/soul and funk sound systems.”
Just over ten years ago Carl and Eric started digging deep into their record collection, putting on Soul/Funk/Disco parties for friends and family.  Starting off with one hundred and fifty people, the event ‘Mobile Disco’ has now grown to touring Australia’s most scenic locations, playing to between two thousand and four thousand people.  They recently announced their next ‘Mobile Disco’ will be in Bali this May at the stunning ‘ULU Cliffhouse.’ Featuring guest appearances by Soul legends such as: Alison Limerick, Joe Roberts, Melanie Williams, Incognito, CeCe Rogers and CeCe Peniston.
Carl Cox & Eric Powell, with the help of engineer extraordinaire Joe Roberts, have put together a collective of some of Australia’s and the UK’s best musicians under the banner of: ‘MD Funk Connection.’ Their first recording is one of their favourite Jazz/Funk tracks: ‘Shante’ with Joe Roberts layering some of his finest scat vocals.
Carl Cox and Eric Powell are very proud to present: MD Funk Connection’s ‘Shante’

After the success of Sunday’s ‘Mobile Disco’ in Melbourne, Australia (featuring surprise guest CeCe Peniston), Carl and Eric now proudly present:
Event: Carl Cox and Eric Powell's Mobile Disco
      Date: Saturday 19th May 2018
      Location: ULU Cliffhouse, Bali
About event: Carl & Eric will be doing what they do best! Digging deep through their extensive record collections and picking out their favourite soul, funk and house tracks that they were brought up with and tracks that have influenced them over the years.  It’s a known fact that they have many gems in the archives!
‘Mobile Disco’ began in Melbourne, Australia with 150 of Carl & Eric’s closest friends.  It’s gotten bigger each year with more friends & house / funk loving fans coming along for the ride.  ‘Mobile Disco’ is now a ‘Must Attend’ national tour playing to sold out boutique shows at some of the most picturesque locations across Australia.
This will be Carl & Eric’s first time overseas, bringing their funk infused ‘Mobile Disco’ to Bali.  Although they’ve had many offers in the past, they were waiting for the right location and time.  ULU Cliffhouse Bali is picture perfect and the right kind of vibe, as they always want their disco crew to enjoy a boutique feel more intimate event as opposed to a festival vibe.  Both Carl & Eric will be entertaining the crowd from the start of the day til the end with a minimum 8 hour set.  So get those disco shoes ready Bali, Carl & Eric are coming for you!

Beatport has spent 2017 working to ensure that its genre categories correctly reflect the music displayed under them. The company has introduced four new categories over the course of the year and is closing out 2017 with a fifth: Afro house.
The addition of this new genre reflects the organic instrumentation and African rhythms influencing the modern house music scene, pioneered by South African artists like Black Coffee and Culoe De Song.
In a press release, Beatport chief product officer Terry Weerasinghe says the Afro house sound is “stronger than ever” on dance floors around the world.
“We’ve focused this year on building the best possible store experience for DJs, which makes it the right time to add this thriving genre to Beatport,” Weerasinghe says. “In order to do it right, we’ve collaborated closely with the labels and artists at the forefront of the movement. Our dedicated team will curate the best Afro house tracks every week, and spotlight the artists you need to know about.”
The Afro house page is live on Beatport now and can be found here.

It’s no secret Kaytranada is an impressive producer.
Since the release of his debut album 99.9% in May of 2016, he’s remixed Gorillaz and collaborated with artists as diverse as BADBADNOTGOOD and Azealia Banks. A lesser-known attribute of his career, though, is his expansive list of production credits. Luckily, Spotify user “hunterhhh” has compiled a complete playlist of the artist’s productions.
In the 93-track playlist, standing at near six hours of playtime, resides Kaytranada’s complete collection of 99.9% tunes, plus an impressive array of productions from the artist.
Productions for GoldLink, Nick Murphy, Kendrick Lamar, Chance the Rapper, and Anderson Paak date back to 2014, with his production outside production credits themselves dating back to 2012.
If Kaytranda continues on this prolific trajectory, it’s certain we’ll see more additions to this list shortly.
