Radiance NYE: Excision + Zeds Dead Steamroll Their Way Into 2019 [Event Review]

A fucking headbanger, bare-breasted blonde climbed the rinky-dink barricade in the manner of one hungry gorilla feeding on Excision‘s 225,000 watts of PK Sound. Wisconsin—home to Mars Cheese Castle and Spotted Cow ale—hosted the inaugural Radiance New Years Eve aka get ur freak headbang on; Granted, I am 29 going on 30: roughly as ancient as the 1993 “Jurassic Park” film score Excision’s Jeff Abel opened with at Lost Lands 2017.

Rainbow balloons together with white confetti flooded Milwaukee’s Wisconsin Center at the stroke of midnight. My $34.88, Amazon’s Choice Eargasm High Fidelity Earplugs couldn’t combat Abel and Space Laces’ ringing in the ears “Rumble.” Texas terror, Riot Ten‘s Chris Wilson, truly shined; his “No Surrender” (feat. Jeff Kush)/”Rail Breaker” (feat. Rico Act) mashup accentuated Wilson’s infectious punch.

Zeds Dead‘s well-balanced, captivating performance was a welcomed break from this bass-heavy oblivion. Fan favorites like ZD’s Led Zeppelin “Stairway To Heaven” or Blue Foundation “Eyes on Fire” renditions enriched Hooks and DC’s unreleased material, exempli gratia their Delta Heavy collaboration “Lift You Up.” Radiance NYE exhibited “sound” production value, efficient as well as cordial security, cozy VIP section and one robust roster.
