Sleepy Tom releases pop tinged single ‘Move’ signifying new musical directon

Emerging on the dance circuit in 2013, Sleepy Tom rose to prominence with anthems on the likes of Fools Gold and Mad Decent. Having broken the crowded EDM scene, Sleepy Tom sets to dip into the pool of pop. With a fresh new sound, he releases Move feat. Sophia Black from his forthcoming EP The Times.

With dynamic riff breakdowns and vibrant melodies, Move displays Sleepy Tom’s flourishing sound journey. Demonstrating versatility as a producer, instrumentals crossover to funk and jazz realms propelling the single to heights that rise above regular pop releases, whilst its energy still cements Move as a dance friendly tune. No longer restricted to one genre, Sleepy Tom explains:

“I started to feel confined to making strictly dance music,” the artist admits. “I wanted to explore pop song structures, more real instruments, more hooks – basically, to create a more accessible and intimate experience for people listening.”

Sleepy-Tom3073-Phot Credit_Lindsay Elliott.jpgSince his prolific rise, Cam aka Sleepy Tom has lent his production skills to the likes of Zeds Dead and Porter Robinson for official remixes with his remix of Martin Solveig‘s Intoxicated surpassing an impressive 7 million streams. Also producing incredible originals, he cracked the charts world-wide with hit single Be Right There alongside powerhouse producer Diplo. Now exploring new avenues, Sleepy Tom’s forthcoming The Times EP focuses on a more musical and collaborative effort that finds new levels of influences and inspiration, whilst still giving a nod to the hook-laden dance landscape that catapulted Sleepy Tom into the international spotlight. Although his achievements and accolades he’s amassed in recent years are ones to be admired, Sleepy Tom is no longer following anyone’s else’s rulebook, only the one he’s writing for himself and his first chapter is seriously compelling.

Here is our recent set, recorded live at our Attic event at The Flinders a few weeks back, on warm-up duties for Nachtbraker.

Our intention was to get the bodies moving and booties shaking with more rolling, percussive selections from our collective boxes—these actually worked a treat, setting the scene nicely for the expected Nachtbraker destruction! ;)

      Hope you enjoy this one!

Alongside the likes of Paces, Lastlings and CVIRO, Jake Carmody is leading the Gold Coast's musical renaissance and now delivers a crisp new track ‘Alone feat. Savoi’, for his debut release on Tinted Records. For this release, Jake has teamed up with Brisbane singer-songwriter Savoi, who has worked with the likes of Enschway, Yahtzel and most notably LDRU, on his hit track ‘Next To You’. The producers new track uses layers of ethereal and atmospheric sounds to pair with Savoi’s vocals which together build to what Jake does best, a futuristic, stuttering drop.

Jake discusses how the track came together "Alone is the mark I've been aiming at since I started making music. Savoi's vocals inspire me to be as daring and creative with as the production as possible. I'm attracted to textures and melodies more than structure and formulas. I wanted Alone to feel like an art house film, with twists and turns that break champion curiosity over convention."

Jake’s inspiration comes from an eclectic variety of influences, ranging from Lana Del Ray and Lorde all the way to What So Not and Hudson Mowhake, which has inspired the producer to construct something that is truly unique. The Gold Coast based artist has made a name for himself since producing an epic remix of Vance Joy’s cover of ‘Georgia On My Mind’. Dabbling in various other projects, Jake has garnered support from the likes of triple j, Pilerats and EDM Sauce.
‘Alone feat. Savoi’ is out now on Tinted Records.

"Its ambient pulses shimmer in and out before shallou brings it back to the driving heartbeat of the song" - SPIN
"his vulnerability makes him stand out from the pack" - FADER
"shallou's ambient electronics are transformative" - NYLON
"It's time electronic communities of all kinds start paying him his due" Hillydilly
"shallou is ready to break out" - Complex
      "textured, sun-kissed sound" - Clash

Prolific L.A.-based ambient electronic musician shallou (real name Joe Boston) has released his first single of 2019; 'All Your Days' with Emmit Fenn. 'All Your Days' is quintessentially shallou; otherworldly, pulsating beats complimented by vulnerable vocal, which is all the while uplifting and resonant. There's a delicate beauty to the song, which is in part due to the collaborative efforts of featured artist and multi-instrumentalist Emmit Fenn. Listen via the link below.

Speaking about the song, Joe explains "Emmit originally wrote the demo for Coldplay, just his voice and keys. When he played it for me I knew we could come together and make something special that felt genuine to both of our sounds. We both wanted to express the simple moments of love. There’s so many songs about heartbreak that we’ve all written and heard on the radio, so we thought it would be nice to have a pretty song like this people can escape into or maybe reminisce with. Like a lot of my production, I like to infuse happy lyrics with a tinge of moody sounds to make them feel more emotional, and this track definitely exemplifies that."

In addition to the release, shallou has announced he will be performing twice at this year's Coachella; his first appearance at the world renowned music and arts festival, which will also play host to Childish Gambino, Ariana Grande, Aphex Twin, Solange and  Tame Impala. In true shallou fashion, he is also due to embark on an extensive run of dates across North America, both as co-headline with Slow Magic and on a solo headline run. Full dates are listed below.

The Maryland-born producer had an exceptional 2018, performing worldwide, including a sold out London date, with over 250 million collective streams of his releases to date. He has been championed by FADER, Complex, NYLON, Clash, SPIN, SiriusXM and even had his face adorning a billboard in New York City's Times Square.

Up and coming house producer, SKIY, returns to the world renowned Spinnin’ Deep with a heady new club-single. Titled Flawless, the track offers everything the name suggests: intoxicating beats, anthemic melodies and an authentic club vibe. Marking SKIY’s second release this year already, 2019 is set to be SKIY’s most prolific to date.

SKIY has been turning heads all over the world with her hard-hitting, riff-heavy, rugged house sound. Since her groove-laden hit Who Got The Keys was picked up and signed to Oliver Heldens’ Heldeep records in 2018, SKIY’s output has jumped from strength to strength. She’s shared the stage with Tiesto and Timmy Trumpet, she’s seen her music supported by The Magician, EDX, Chocolate Puma, and Dillion Francis, and now she has penned her second single to Spinnin’ Records. With a rich musical upbringing shared across Brazil, Germany and Croatia that saw her exposed to Jazz, soul and the piano from a young age, SKIY’s music beams with musicality and finesse.

It’s no wonder global tastemakers are sitting up and paying attention.

Flawless evolves SKIY’s sound into booming club territory but doesn’t lose sight of the infectious melodies, jumping basslines and catchy vocals that make a SKIY tune unique. Swells of dancefloor energy rise then give way to energetic four to the floor beats and textured layers of FX for a high-octane club cut that is sure to become a favourite among DJs and fans in 2019.

SKIY - Flawless is out 4th March
