Spotify Reveals Year-End Stats Including Most-Streamed Track Ever

    Ozclubbers Staff

Spotify has just released its annual list of the year’s top tracks, artists, and genres, and it’s dominated by Ed Sheeran. The most streamed track of the year, and ever, in the platform’s history, is Sheeran’s “Shape of You.” Since its release in January of 2017, it has accumulated 1.4 billion streams. Divide, the album that “Shape of You” is included on, was the most streamed album of the year, being streamed 3.1 billion times. These statistics made Ed Sheeran the most streamed artist of 2017.

Following Ed Sheeran for most streamed artists are Drake, The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, and The Chainsmokers. While the list is dominated by men, Rihanna was named as the most streamed female artist of 2017. View the full list here:

While Ed Sheeran was the most streamed artist in the entire world, Drake was the most streamed artist in the United States. Additionally, “Humble” by Kendrick Lamar was the most streamed track in the United States instead of Sheeran’s “Shape of You.” However, as stated by chief content officer Stefan Blom, “There is no doubt that 2017 was the Year of Ed Sheeran.”
