The Gathering Festival Turns Out To Be An Absolute Dumpster Fire

    YourEDM

When you pay to go to a festival, certain things are expected… a stage, artists, maybe some options for food and beverages, decent organization? Very few of these things were to be found at South Carolina festival The Gathering this past weekend.

Created by a company calling itself EDM United Events, the festival promised headliners ATLiens and Leah Culver and “four stages of sound” on Saturday, October 7, for a steep price of $130. According to promoters, attendees were also promised “50,000 watts of sound, Amazing lighting that will melt your face, visuals that will blow your mind, an Oxygen BAR, Food vendors, a Beer Cave,” and “breakfast served on us.” What they got was a haphazard, thrown-together mish-mash of plywood and some local DJs who showed up for an absolute dumpster fire.

The photos in this article are of the actual stages at the festival, built probably last minute and without any real resources at hand. Only four to five people were responsible for setting up the stages, as the organizer disappeared without a trace. Thankfully, according to sources within the festival, it seems that all the artists were paid; however, not all of the staff received compensation for their efforts.

Needless to say, no one will be working with EDM United Events again anytime soon.

As more than 2,000 delegates begin to arrive in Beijing for China’s Communist Party Congress, country officials have called for the temporary closure of the nightclubs located in the capital as part of an effort to heighten security for the event. The meeting takes place every five years — it officially began on Wednesday, October 18 —and will extend into next week.
All Beijing based nightclubs have consequently been instructed to remain closed until the congress concldes. The abrupt shutdown has forced many Beijing promoters and nightlife entities to cancel anticipated events.

Nightclubs however are not the sole spaces being targeted for closure by officials. Airbnb rentals and restaurants, gyms, and karaoke bars are also being required to temporarily halt activity, the effort part of a larger initiative to “reduce the flow of outsiders to the capital.” While Beijing residents might find their weekend somewhat uneventful as a result, the closure will remain brief.

The worlds of electronic music and fashion collide as enigmatic producer ZHU teams up with Adidas to promote the globally recognized brand’s winter collection.
ZHU’s latest release, “Waters of Monaco,” may not be out in America just yet, but in China, the delightfully deep new track is already making quite the stir. Adidas’ fresh new Pure winter collection pairs perfectly with ZHU’s ultra-suave production style.
Seemingly cutting edge and classic all at once, the video for “Waters of Monaco” evokes a futuristic appeal rooted in a timeless style. Clean lines and smooth kicks take center stage as Chinese supermodel Angelababy brings a smoldering intensity to the project. As one of the premier tastemakers in the world of dance music, it is not surprising to see ZHU expand his influence into the realm of global style.
