um.. release final stupefying single, announce break up

    Guest

Some two years ago, the Los Angeles-based duo of Ben Bruce and Dylan Gold — who dubbed themselves um.. — began turning industry heads with their pay attention EP. Since then, um.. have amassed a significant cult following for music productions that were ominous, complex, and bizarre; at times, humorous, but above all, amorphous in form.

During a recent Reddit AMA, these prodigies of peculiarity said a split was inevitable, although it was unclear when that time was coming. That is, until October 19, when the duo hinted at the impending split in a video blasted across their socials. The reasoning behind the break-up have been left purposefully vague.

Deemed a “fundamentally dadaist act” by DA, um.. have now released their final track. As the um.. fanbase mourns this loss, listeners can enjoy one last bass heavy track with their signature off-kilter sound design, low-fi synths, and melancholy glitches.

Named Annie Mac’s Hottest Record in the World, a favourite with BBC Radio 1 tastemakers Pete Tong, Danny Howard and MistaJam racking up over 50 plays on the station, as well the official song of Gay Pride 2018, Too Many Zooz & KDA’s Warriors is an empowerment anthem that’s branched out from the clubs into the public consciousness. Now, Grammy award winner Jess Glynne adds fresh vocals to the record on So Real (Warriors).

So Real (Warriors) is the perfect crossover and looks to be the latest success story from Ministry of Sound, renowned for their ability to match the hottest dance music producers with the world’s biggest pop stars. Here, Jess Glynne’s vibrant vocals are matched effortlessly with the energetic Too Many Zooz vs KDA instrumental version, creating a sure-fire pop-dance hit that’s built on a brass house backbone.

New York three-piece Too Many Zooz are no strangers to working with the most powerful women in music, being seen by Beyoncé, who drafted them in to collaborate on her Lemonade album thanks to their viral busking videos. Taking their “brass house” sound from the subway to the world, they also caught the ear of London-based record producer KDA who reworked their track Warriors.

KDA has a history of crafting club records that go on to be pop hits. His previous dance anthem Turn The Music Louder (Rumble) with Tinie Tempah & Katy became a Platinum certified UK #1 single. Seeing an opportunity to blend Too Many Zooz’s incredible energy with his unique take on dance music, KDA’s version of Warriors was born and now looks to follow in the footsteps of his previous crossover success.

Jess Glynne’s involvement simply underlines the power of this collaborative record. An artist who’s not afraid to be herself, and in doing so has achieved 7 UK #1 singles - more than any other British woman - Jess Glynne has her pick of projects. On So Real (Warriors) she draws on her previous pop-dance hits to create an uplifting record that’s set to bring people together as it conquers the charts.

Monolink releases "Swallow", the second single off his forthcoming debut album due 20th April. Multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer and performer from Berlin, Monolink, mixes genres into a hypnotic hybrid on his new single, ‘Swallow’.   After releasing ‘Sirens’ late last year, this will be the second single off his debut album due in April. The single entangles house rhythms, electronic synths, organic basslines with his own haunting vocals, showcasing his astounding ability of music producing and songwriting.

‘Swallow’ tells of a painful encounter and the subsequent loss occurring in that place between dreams, thoughts and reality. The process is almost intuitive. "Sitting down and writing a song on a specific topic is foreign to me," explains Monolink. "I want to be surprised by my lyrics, to find an idea that appeals to me and is not just coming from the logical part of my brain."

Monolink has been making waves throughout Europe and the US with his first single ‘Sirens’, reaching #6 on Beatport Techno Charts, #4 on the iTunes Electronic Charts and #30 on Spotify Viral Charts in Germany. This has resulted in a prestigious slot on Coachella’s Do-LaB lineup for this year’s festival, in the lead up to his debut album ‘Amniotic’.

‘Swallow’ out now via Sweat It Out, along with the pre-order for ‘Amniotic', Monolink's debut album.   Release Date: 30th March 2018   Added into NMF in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Turkey & Switzerland resulting in over 35k streams on Spotify over the weekend
Recently played a round of shows in Aus including Strawberry Fields where he debuted 'Swallow'
The album Amniotic is set to be released on the 20th April. Pre-Order HERE
