Music Genre: House,Swing Hop Facebook URL: https://facebook.com/events/162369431006419/ Electric Gardens returns to Brisbane in 2018 – after our incredible debut in 2016, we thought we would bring our weapon of choice back to Brisbane. That’s right, FATBOY SLIM – one of the most influential artists in the dance music world – will officially headline Electric Gardens Brisbane on January 25, 2018.

Joining Fatboy Slim will be North London sensations GORGON CITY, playing one of their infamous underground DJ sets, with the cherry on the cake by way of US house hero MK.

After christening the inaugural Electric Gardens back in 2016 with a truly unforgettable performance, FATBOY SLIM is pulling on his signature Hawaiian shirt once again to be the life and soul of Electric Gardens! If you missed him in 2016, make sure you do not miss him this time around. And if you caught him in 2016, then you know you are in for a treat!

GORGON CITY’s polished, powerful and party-minded sound – a mix of heavy hip-swinging rhythms meets butt-shaking bass – gets people making shapes all over the world, and we can’t wait to have the North London pair on our EG stage. They have helped shape the trajectory of deep house with their thoughtful, yet infectious productions.

Also joining us at EG 2018 is the man behind some of the biggest tracks of early house, and still one of the most in-demand DJs on the global circuit, revered producer, remixer and DJ – MK.

Music Genre: Techno Facebook URL: https://www.facebook.com/events/242741462925595 IWTFA is proud to present the spectral vision of noise that is Taapion Records. We present two of the creators behind this Parisian power-label, Shlømo and AWB. We welcome two of Frances finest exports on Australia Day, and what an occasion to celebrate AWBs first time in the country and Shlømos first in Brisbane!. You certainly don't get this in Brisbane.

      ***6 HOURS OF TAAPION***
      *** BYO Brisbane Location***
      *** Funktion One Sound***

      - Shlømo is at the heart of the French techno underground. In just a couple of years he has swiftly emerged with his own distinctive sound, mostly on his own Taapion Records but also on influential labels like Delsin, Singular records and Arts Collective. Balancing real feeling with all important dancefloor function, his sets and productions marry stark moods with absorbing atmospheres and for that reason have found favour with key techno tastemakers around the globe.

With a distinct ear for authentic grooves and mesmeric sound design, Shlømo is as captivating in the club as he is in the studio. His live show is an extension of that creative space and finds him cooking up compelling sound tracks using gear like a Nord 1, Korg MS20, Roland TR-8, Mikrokorg and Korg Mono/Poly. As a DJ, too, he is a master of pacing and spacing and can trap you in a high pressure groove or allow you to drift on a dark mood with equal élan, either solo or with label mates PVNV and AWB under the Taapion Soundsytem moniker. These performances take him to key clubs and festivals from Berlin’s Berghain to Tbilisi’s thriving Bassiani and Russia’s Gamma, not forgetting the local Parisien hotspot Concrete where he is a resident. Always a mix of cerebral and visceral affairs, they have made him one of the most exciting talents in the game right now. As such, 2017 sees forthcoming releases on Delsin, Slam’s SOMA and fresh Taapion material, plus a Japanese tour and another appearance at the seminal UK Freerotation festival. On top of various Shlømo productions that are set to be remixed by the likes of Oscar Mulero, Tripeo, Johannes Heil and Sigha, not to mention whispers of a debut album the Frenchman’s 2017 is shaping up to be very busy as he continues to set his own techno agenda.

      - AWB is a key figure in Paris’s techno scene & co-founder of Taapion Records, together with Shlømo & PVNV. Indeed since 2013, AWB teamed up with his partners and started the label Taapion Records as a platform for their own work and that of artists whose work they admire like Sterac, Conforce, Antigone or Francois X. Production wise, he had released his solo debut EP «Celestial Longitude » on Taapion one year ago. After this, he released tracks on Soma and Raw Imprint, both on various artists EP. His sound oscillates between deep / atmospheric techno and broken beats, with film scoring influence. AWB makes a precise and intimate techno flow who seduces the dancefloor, mixing new and old vinyls range from deep, intricate techno, through an acid and groovy darkness with some melodic gems along the way. He joined the Blocaus roster alongside Anetha, BLNDR, ABSL and Exal since late 2015

      Prohibition Saturdays presents Throttle!
Free Entry, Complimentary Hair & Makeup, No Lockout! VIP booths available! Book today! - http://bit.ly/2iyuSG6

Although just 19 years of age, Australian producer Throttle has become one of the hottest names in house music. Drawing from disco, jazz, hip-hop and funk - he fuses together countless references and eras into a genre he calls ‘dirty-disco’. Old-school meets new-school as he puts his own unique stamp on every production. Throttle isn’t about what’s trending now, but what’s cool indefinitely.
First coming to the world’s attention aged just 16 with Inspire—his incredible live mash-up of 20 different tracks—his career quickly blossomed and once he began creating original sounds, it was clear that he was no one-trick pony. Racking up 5 million plays, his breakthrough video led to him being asked by the mighty Avicii to remix You Make Me, which he flipped into a potently euphoric electro house jam. The remix received its premiere from Rolling Stone, hit #1 on blog aggregator Hype Machine’s chart and #12 on Beatport. Not bad for a high school kid.
After working tirelessly on his production skills and releasing a clutch of increasingly popular tracks, he hit gold on his collaboration with Dutch house genius, Oliver Heldens. Together they crafted the glorious piano house banger Waiting, which became one of 2016’s biggest tracks with over 15 million plays and led to Throttle joining Heldens on his bus tour of the US and
during his mainstage set at Tomorrowland. Representing the next generation of house music heroes, the duo have found kindred spirits in each other.
Then came the massive Money Maker on Spinnin’. Fusing classic disco samples with new school house bounce and lashings of funk, this fresh jam picked up well over 1 million plays online before Positiva/Virgin EMI picked it up for an irresistible vocal version that made a serious crossover chart splash. Following on from the success of his rework of Earth, Wind & Fire’s September—the only time the legendary act have ever allowed an official remix of their music—it again made clear his love of classic ‘70s sounds, with his retro-leaning approach marking him apart from his contemporaries.
He’s also provided music for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, signed to Warner in Australia and scored another big crossover in his stellar remix of AlunaGeorge’s I’m In Control, which was presented exclusively by Shazam in partnership with a Victoria’s Secret fashion show. Increasingly in demand as a DJ too—playing gargantuan events like EDC Vegas and New York and at Ibiza’s epic Ushuaïa—he’s been crushing every element of his game effortlessly.

He took the reigns as Jersey Club’s first global star, spreading the genre from humble beginnings in Newark’s DIY party spaces to international culture hot spots like London, Paris, Milan and Oslo – not to mention mainstream attention from MTV, SPIN, Vice, and more. After shooting to post-EDM stardom with a collaborative EP on Fool’s Gold with Flosstradamus, soundtracking Paris runways for Alexander Wang and Rick Owens, and playing festivals around the globe, Sliink is entering the next chapter of his career. The OWSLA Records bossman Skrillex sought out Sliink’s diverse club sound as the newest addition to their eclectic roster. Hard at work on his first project for the label, you can trust that Sliink has few tricks up his sleeve for 2016.

    2. Hi everyone,

I've been hard at it again over the past few months, and as you may have noticed, the site is not only becoming a one-stop-shop for everything about clubbing, but even running smoother and faster!  As part of it becoming a one-stop-shop, here's some new things that have been added  :)

      News and Reviews

The News and Reviews section has launched!  Not only are we getting syndicated feeds from a number of reputable sources in the electronic music industry, but we have our own writers posting news and reviews!  This makes Ozclubbers.com.au a single place that you can go to get all the news, rather than jumping to multiple different websites across your day.

Of course, we are always on the lookout for more writers, so if you think you can contribute, head over to https://ozclubbers.com.au/application and send us through an application!

Firstly, we have opened up Event Adding so that you no longer need to be a member to add your event.  If you aren't a member, you will need to wait for your event to be approved by a moderator before it appears on the site.  If you are a member, not only is your event is automatically approved, but you can respond to comments and view the RSVP list.  To add an event, go to https://ozclubbers.com.au/calendar/submit.  Remember, adding events is completely free!

Secondly, we have linked up with a number of venues to have their Facebook events now appear on our Calendar. So not only will you see events that various event promoters post up, you'll also get to see the events from venues as well.
If you are a venue, and would like to get your Facebook events linked up to appear on Ozclubbers, get in touch with @AdamMadd and we can arrange it - it costs you absolutely nothing!

And lastly, for those in Brisbane, any events added to the Brisbane calendar will automatically appear on the Brisbane Social and The Valley facebook pages.  Great way to get free promotion!
If you are the owner/manager of a Facebook page in your city dedicated to the clubbing and electronic music scene, get in touch with @AdamMadd and we can get events appearing on your page automatically too!

We now have weekly newsletters which give you all the news, events, forum topics, blogs, photos, etc all in one email!  You can subscribe and unsubscribe to these by visiting https://ozclubbers.com.au/settings/?area=newsletters and selecting the newsletters relevant to you from there.

      Music Wiki

Our brand new feature is a Music Wiki.  This is a community-driven place to define the various different styles of electronic music.  You can also search through it if you don't know what a particular genre or style is.  This wiki is completely community driven, so we need your input to add and update the information on it.  You can find this under the Music menu, or by jumping to https://ozclubbers.com.au/musicwiki/

      New Brisbane Photographer

We want to take a moment to welcome our new photographer in Brisbane, @harry_jwhite. Harry has a vast array of experience in photography and is keen to help out the scene as much as possible.

We are still looking for volunteer photographers in other cities as well, so if you are a bit of a socialite, have a decent camera, and like getting free entry to events, get in touch with us at https://ozclubbers.com.au/application

The forums have had a bit of an update.  You can now view the Forums in a "stream" view, which lets you filter all the active threads by forum topic using options on the right hand side of the page.  This gives you the chance to see all the topics that interest you, but without the need to jump back and forth around the site.

Thats about it for now.  Thanks again for being part of our community, and if you like what we are doing, please share the site around!

    4. IN COMFORTABLE silence we sat for the first few puffs before John mused, "Not long to go now."

"Mmm," I answered, enjoying the hazy blanket descending from the outside in.

A pause. "Are you sure you want to go through with it, Izz?"

      "Yeah man. I have too."

"But you know, you are, well, kind of useless, right?"

I wasn't offended. John's words were voiced with affection and a fair amount of prior experience.

"I like to think of myself as endearingly useless bro."

"That's still useless. Do you really think you can pull this off?"

      "No, not really.”

      The spliff savoured. Passed back.

“But you know, it’s sure going to be a trip finding out."

John leaned back, looked up and laughed. "Well I guess it's good that you've stopped this straight edge bollocks then. You know before it felt as if you hung out with us because you had too. Now it feels like you want too."

John still thought my travels might chemically lobotomise; but at least now I should have some fun along the way.

SO OKAY, I wasn't some electronic prophet destined to lead a straight edge revolution. People of all ages weren't going to flood the dance scene for the good of their health, due to my example.

I was an ageing hedonist heading for one final blowout and all things were back on the table. I had no idea what the next few months held, what they would mean. I hoped meaning would be found. I was searching for secrets and mysteries and magic - for an end worthy of the name. And I was scared shitless. And it was going to be great . . . I hoped.
