  4. There's nothing simple about Dashiki's colourful new effort "Forget You" Dashiki is an unusual artistic movement that mixes a blend European and African cultures with music, visuals and people. After the success of their first single, Forget You, Dashiki has released an equally vibrant visual accompaniment. Dashiki is the anagram of the three members in the collective… David, Shif and Kimbo. Aptly, Dashiki also refers to a traditional type African dress. Staying true to their roots, this mixture of African and European cultures is at the core of this project. Dashiki is a collective where singers, dancers, designers and video makers, of both European and African origins, collaborate with the DJ producer who masterminded the whole idea. Their energy has been well directed to create Forget You, in 2017, and now their equally exhilarating video. Brought to life by the Dashiki movement, this video is an uplifting exploration that doesn’t shy away from a very relatable situation. Sewn together by three creative forces, the video is underpinned heavily by each of their skills, backgrounds and individual stories. This track has an eclectic and erratic slant, but in some way, has the sense of utter certainty that youth holds. Deleting his ex-girl in a video game like twist, no one can’t decide whether this is a good or bad move. Passionate and powerful, this loudly asks us whether forgetting is better than heartbreak? Either way, we can’t wait for more celebrations of life from the skilled musicians that have brought us Dashiki. 5. Ozclubbers Review of "I Need You" by Jroll, Voviii, and Wknd Warrior on Central Station Records Review by Wormie, Lou Lou, and MJ from Duggystone Radio Transcript: Wormie and Lulu: We're here to review I need you by Jroll, Vovii, and Wknd Warrior, coming out on Central Station Records tomorrow (Fri 23rd Feb) LuLu: I've been listening to it and god, its a great track Wormie: Yeah I thorougly enjoyed it MJ: I really loved it, the beat and everything, and i loved how the second drop wasn't the same as the first drop. I know its something that many many of my friends would totally vibe to W: Its starts off with the bass, thats what got me hooked M: I loved the melody as well, the only thing that would amp that up more would be a female voice, not all throughout the song, just every now and then, but its still.... i loved it L: Yeah, the intro and outtro, its puts the song in such a different perspective, you don't expect it to drop into that heavy ass bass M: Yeah but even the drop itself, i didn't expect that, i was expecting it to be a harder drop than that, but it was still brilliant the way it all just worked together W: I personally think its an easy song to freestyle to L: Definitely M: Yeah definitely W: I was busting away to it throughout the song. Its going to be a dope song L: Freestylers are going to love it! W: Its smooth and easy listening, thats the best part about it from the start to the finish. The only thing I can really fault about the whole song is the outtro goes a bit too long, but thats all L: Yeah but it does cut the track too M: The good thing about that is, you can bust out solo's to it or its good to just listen to also just how it is, its versatile like that and thats a great sign of a great track L: I can 100% hear this on the radio in the future W: I could see me dancing to it in a nightclub after a few beverages too (all laugh) W: JRoll, Vovii, and Wknd Warrior, you have outdone yourselves with this one L: I give this one a 10 out of 10 W: Yeah, it gets a 10 out of 10 from me too M: 10 out of 10 from me too OzClubbers Revew on I Need You.MP3

Mau5 didn’t go out without a bang: his final show was crammed full of tracks — including a new one from mau5trap signee Rinzen — but he actually saved his best gift for after he called time. Read More Hear the Australian track Deadmau5 just gave a special shout out to The producer just shared a playlist containing every single track he played over the course of his 12-month residency — that’s a staggering 206 songs, which equals a playing time of well over 22 hours. Among the goodies are tracks from Pryda, Maceo Plex, Lane 8, Robert Oaks, Tycho…and so, so, many more. Better yet, his label mau5trap has confirmed on Twitter that we’ll be getting a brand new Deadmau5 album next year, and they’ll also be launching a “podcast mix show type thing”. Chris Bekker – You

Few if any producers these days connect progressive and trance music more intuitively and completely than Chris Bekker. With his latest release though, we here at VANDIT towers think he may have outdone even himself. The source of our conviction is the singular ‘You’ – a career-best piece of music, cut from the finest progressive-trance elements and produced down to the last sonic detail. Through its formative minutes, Chris interlocks a collage of four distinct sub-melodies, each of which play a critical part in developing the track’s early atmospheres. Atop its cruising bass line, he applies floor-engaging FX, pinpoint-timed chord progressions and beguiling, chiming melodics – all of which further its unique ether. ‘You’s coup-de-grace moment though comes through its female vocal – a hailing, heaven-sent siren-song, the subtle rapture of which is quite impossible to resist. 10. If you live in Sydney and count yourself a Deadmau5 fan, we’d advise cancelling any Thursday night plans and laying the groundwork to call in sick to work on Friday right about now. Joel “Deadmau5” Zimmerman has locked in an intimate headline show at Sydney’s Metro Theatre for this Thursday, November 30. Joining him on support are two of our favourite locals — Human Movement and Made In Paris, the Sydney producer whose track ‘Mass Movement’ the mau5 gave a special shout-out to last week. The headline show follows Deadmau5’s appearance at festivals Sensation and Creamfields over the weekend, where he shared the bill with the likes of Showtek, Oliver Heldens and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. The Mau5trap head was also due to play at Adelaide’s Flux Festival before it was cancelled last week. Tickets to the Metro are on sale now, with first release prices starting at $88. Get in quick. 11. A satirical Facebook page poking fun at wooks is gaining quite the social following. Colorado Big Game Trophy Wook Hunters (CBGTWH) is a forum that documents “wookery” as it occurs not only at music festivals, but across a variety of public arenas. Rising from humble parodic beginnings, the Facebook page now possesses somewhat of a viral quality that has only amplified given CBGTWH’s release of “Bag & Tag” stickers designed to numerically label wooks for observation. The humorous sticker has exploded in popularity amongst CBGTWH’s dance cultured following, creating a sort of sport in which sticker holders attempt to stealthily tag wooks with the stickers. The stickers sell for $4 each and can be purchased from CBGTWH’s official website here. 18. Nothing is more annoying than the YouTube app. It’s impossible to play videos in the background without a YouTube Red subscription. However, there are some tricks you can use to get past YouTube’s blocks. A Verge writer discovered you can use the Telegram messaging app to play YouTube videos in the background. But, he discovered some other tricks for people who want to use other apps while using YouTube. For Android users: open up YouTube in the Chrome app. Click on the menu button—the button with three dots on the top-right—and check the “Request dekstop site” box. Open a video and accept any warnings that pop up saying YouTube will send notifications. Close out of the Chrome app, press play in the notification menu and voilà, videos now play in the background. For iOS users: download the Dolphin web browser. Use Dolphin to open up a video, exit the browser, press play in the iOS menu and enjoy. This method does not require a notification agreement, making for ideal listening. Both methods let you use YouTube as an audio service, perfect for your favorite EDM live sets, albums and singles. These methods circumvent you from being forced to subscribe to YouTube Red, saving you both time and money. YouTube previously stopped background video play in the Firefox app, so we hope these methods work for the foreseeable future. This article was first published on Your EDM. 19. Hungarian songstress and hitmaker Ameria has collaborated Russian producer HYPRESSION on this new tune called, “Not About You,” and we’re all about it. This track, out today via Trap City and Spinnin Records, is all about the slow build and intense release. The first 70 seconds or so of the track are all on the rise with Ameria’s vocals until it crashes down with a reticent fury. The slightly phased, sweeping synth notes cause you to sway your head to and fro, almost without you even realizing it. One thing about the track that I feel could be slightly improved upon is the lack of versatility – it’s largely the same looping sequence for the duration of the track. However, to others, that repetition and consistency could be almost hypnotic. It’s all in the eye of the beholder. Check out the new track from Ameria & HYPRESSION, “Not About You,” below, out now on Trap City & Spinnin Records. This article was first published on Your EDM. 21. Skrillex somewhat shocked fans when he released “Would You Ever” with Poo Bear – the release was met with a bit of “Whoa, this is Skrillex?” while others were just happy to have some new Skrillex original music. The vibey house beat isn’t totally uncharacteristic of the producer, but it’s still not something fans were quite expecting. Thankfully, one of our favorite drummers, Matt McGuire, who is now touring with The Chainsmokers, has put an insane remix on “Would You Ever” that we would absolutely love to see played live. The drum cover isn’t entirely original, either. Various elements from other remixes and originals come into play, though McGuire is adept at melding them all together into one cohesive piece. For instance, some Slushii samples are clearly audible, as well as a sample from “Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites” and “Voltage.” Check out the full thing below! 22. Australia is in the grips of a public health crisis and warehouse parties are to blame. Or at least, that’s what the ABC wants you to think. The humble nitrous oxide bulb — also affectionately known as a nang, whippet or bulb — was the subject of no less than three stories by the ABC yesterday. For those unfamiliar, nitrous oxide is an anaesthetic commonly used by dentists and available commercially for use making whipped cream; inhaling the gas results in a 20-second high. They’re sold freely at supermarkets and corner stores. Most injuries from gas bulbs use largely stem from people falling over under the influence or damaging their lungs by trying to inhale the compressed gas. But according to the ABC, recreational use of nangs is “back with a vengeance” and “a critical public health concern” that’s causing nerve and brain damage in users. The ABC explains In a report aired on 7.30 and an accompanying online article, the ABC fearlessly broke the news that nangs aren’t actually good for you (who’da thunk it?) — featuring the story of a student who sustained nerve damage from inhaling 360 nangs a week (?!), and interviewing a doctor about on 20-year-old patient whose brain had “the same level of damage as an alcoholic who had been drinking for 40 years”. They report that nang use has spiked over the last two years and that the Westmead Hospital’s Poisons Information Centre has seen a “doubling” in calls relating to nitrous oxide exposure. Nangs can cause death, but the ABC concede it’s rare — since 2010 there have only been two recorded deaths from recreational nitrous oxide use in Australia. To really drive the hysteria home, the ABC also ran a story infiltrating a recent warehouse party from techno savants Motorik. The reporter described seeing party-goers suck nitrous oxide out of balloons — a sight so shocking the ABC contacted Motorik head honcho and former Bang Gang identity Angus Gruzman for comment. The response they got back will go down as one of the greatest moments in local dance music history: “Have a nice life you loser,” Gruzman replied. Unsurprisingly, the internet’s reaction to the ABC’s reports has been pretty much this: Of course, this isn’t the first time the mainstream media has tried to whip up hysteria over nang use. In 2015, the Sydney Morning Herald reported that nitrous oxide use was “on the rise”. Then Channel 7 branded it the “frightening” new drug craze at dance parties and music festivals. You can probably expect this moral panic to resurface in another couple of years — until then, call us when this country decides to do something about pill testing. 24. Now in its 22nd year, Amsterdam Dance Event has evolved into the biggest conference on the dance music calendar. In 2016 the festival attracted 375,000 attendees, and 2017 is set to be their biggest edition yet with over 2,200 artists scheduled to play 120 venues over five days and nights from October 18-22. Covering practically every genre of dance music, the festival boasts big names of both the underground and mainstream including Solomun, Maceo Plex, Joris Voorn, Lee Burridge, Damian Lazarus, Markus Schulz, Marshmello, and David Guetta with round the clock parties at Amsterdam’s top clubs and event spaces. If you’re suddenly finding yourself trying to justify an impromptu trip to Amsterdam, then we really can’t blame you. Here are five ADE parties that will have you reaching for your credit card to book a flight faster than you can say ‘What Would Diplo Do?’. Audio Obscura x Ruks Museum present Underworld Friday October 20 // 7pm – 11pm Underworld — the cult heroes responsible for ‘Born Slippy’ — will play a free show in the club-transformed Rijksmuseum. Musical idols + a super unique, intimate setting = yes please. Diynamic Showcase at Loveland ADE Friday October 20 // 10pm-7am Diynamic’s showcase is always one of the biggest parties of ADE. This year it’s taking place at the stunning Mediahaven featuring three rooms all equipped with amazing acoustics, and no sound restrictions whatsoever. The German label kingpin Solomun will play alongside the usual Diynamic suspects including Swiss duo Adriatique, mischief maker Butch, top producer Kollektiv Turmstrasse (live), and label mum Magadelena who’s been part of the Diynamic family since the very beginning. All Day I Dream of Winter Sun Saturday October 21 // 12pm-8pm Lee Burridge’s infamous All Day I Dream is probably one of the most recognisable daytime parties known to underground dance music. Featuring the signature purple and aqua decor, billowing fabric, and deep, melodic, floaty Playa vibes synonymous with the hugely popular event, Burridge has been taking dancefloors by storm from New York, to Melbourne, to Dubai and now Amsterdam. Burridge will play alongside YokoO, Powel, Henry Saiz, Eelke Kleijn, Martjin Ten Velden, and Sébastien Léger in what is sure to be a standout day party of the entire festival. Circoloco x Loveland ADE Saturday October 21 // 10pm-7am When Circoloco and Loveland team up, you know you’re in for a treat. After floating through the afternoon with Lee Burridge and his dreamy crew, we’ll be gearing up to dance the night away to beats by Jackmaster, Seth Troxler, Rampa, &ME, Damian Lazarus, Davide Squillace and DJ Tennis. With such an array of talent we can’t wait to hear what musical direction the night takes but we have a sneaking suspicion that it will feature plenty of house, tech-house, and techno with everything in between to keep us going until dawn. The Gardens of Babylon presents the ADE Seekers of Light Sunday October 22 // 1pm-1am Known for creating experiential events that blend musical, spiritual, and visual dream effects, Amsterdam’s The Gardens of Babylon is where you will find us on festival closing day. Aside from the jaw-dropping lineup that includes Damian Lazarus, Audiofly, Behrouz, Satori, Chaim, DJ Three, Blondish, Akasha, Jan Blomqvist to name but a few, the carefully curated event will feature three divine areas known as The Gardens of Babylon, The Dark Forest, and The Tree of Life. Interactive performances will complement the stellar lineup, whilst colourful vendors will gather at The Market of Curiosities. For those looking for a respite from the thumping 4/4, a sound bath and sacred space will welcome those who wander inside looking for some peace and calm. Taking us from day into night, this is how we’ll be spending our final ADE hours exploring everything that The Gardens of Babylon have to offer. 25. Between juggling his acting commitments in What Would Diplo Do and throwing birthday parties for his piñata Gerald, it’s pretty amazing that Dillon Francis can cut out enough time to make new music. But somehow he does, and today dance music’s most beloved funnyman has dropped his newest banger ‘Hello There’, featuring California singer Yung Pinch. Read More Here's what happened when DJ Hanzel got behind the decks in Sydney “I discovered Yung Pinch while in the studio and was instantly hooked,” Francis says. “I reached out to him on Twitter immediately to set up studio time with him and ‘Hello There’ is the result. His vocals accompany the carefree feel-good vibes of the song perfectly.” It’s the second release from Francis this year, with his G-Eazy collaboration ‘Say Less‘ dropping back in April.
